I had a profoundly disheartening experience with this realtor, specifically the agent Janine from Fathom Realty LLC. On or around October 13, 2023, I was actively working with my realtor to secure a new rental home, and our experience quickly soured due to their discriminatory actions. I came across the property at 3506 Glenview Way, Rowlett, TX 75089, listed by Janine from Fathom Realty LLC. My realtor and I found that this property was a perfect fit for my needs. As a disabled veteran, I have two dogs legally classified as Emotional Support Animals (ESAs). I provided the necessary documentation from my Veterans Affairs-appointed psychiatrist to affirm their ESA status, per the Fair Housing Act. My financial standing significantly exceeded the rental requirements. Moreover, I have an impeccable national rental history and a good credit score. Despite these qualifications, the listing agent, Janine, informed my real estate agent that the landlord/property management company would not accept my application due to my dogs. This action raises substantial concerns about discrimination, as the Fair Housing Act mandates that individuals with ESAs are entitled to reasonable accommodations in housing. We made diligent efforts to educate the listing agent on the legal framework provided by the Fair Housing Act, including the rights of disabled veterans and the need to provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Despite our sincere attempts to clarify these rights and obligations, Janine ignored and rejected all communication from my agent. It is disheartening to conclude that the only logical reason for this denial was the presence of my legally designated ESAs. I find it highly disappointing that a real estate professional would act contrary to the principles of fairness and equal housing opportunity, especially when the law is clear. In my experience, this realtor exhibited a disregard for the legal rights of individuals with disabilities and failed to adhere to the principles of the Fair Housing Act, which is meant to ensure equal housing opportunities for all. I hope such discrimination will not be tolerated and individuals in similar situations will not face unjust obstacles in their pursuit of housing. EDIT: I have actual evidence from my realtor with the evidence showing that she provided Janine with ALL of the required application documents. She is lying
