        Saw people of all ages inside! Though I didn't get anything, because it was all so expensive, the staff were very helpful. It's mostly a yarn store, and they have quilting fabric. But their linens are so expensive all the way from England! Overall a good experience, will come back once I have good quality spending money.

        Friendly staff, young lady told us all about their black Friday weekend in the square. We visited on July 30th at 3:45 pm before they closed. We went for the July Christmas Quilt shop hop. If you love yarn this is the place to come. Never saw so much yarn.

        If you are into yarns, knotting, crochet, weaving, etc. You will love this place. If you are a serious quilter it might be ok in an emergency for finding something to make do. It's more a yarn shop than a quilt shop. Stood waiting at the table to ask a question and then the clerk directed me to designer fabric rather than wide backing fabric of which they had none. Felt like I had to wait til she felt like asking if she could help. Seemed extraordinarily high $$$ IMO. $34 for a 9 1/2" square ruler. If, as they say, they are catching up with quilting, they have a considerable way to go to be competitive in that area.

      Jasmine! Thanks for visiting us and for leaving a review. I'm glad you found our Merchant & Mills linens. Yes, they are expensive, but so nice for a special project. Many of them are 60" wide which helps with the price. Most of our fabrics are 100% cotton, but we have a few others added to the mix like the linens you saw and the Essex Linen which is a cotton/linen blend. We hope to see you again!

      Thanks for visiting the shop, Charlie! We have enjoyed meeting lots of quilters who are discovering the shop for the first time because of the shop hop. Yes, we have a lot of yarn--McKinney Knittery got a headstart because it opened in 2015--but our fabric side (added in 2020) is catching up! Hope you can some see us again soon. Enjoy the shop hop!

      Hello, Judith. Thanks for visiting the shop today. I'm sorry you didn't find what you were looking for. We specialize in civil war reproduction fabrics, and also carry a wide variety of Laundry Basket Quilts fabrics, Tilda's collections, and a few others that catch our eye. We do not carry wide backs as I do not care for the quality of the fabric on which they are printed. The wide fabrics on rolls are linens, linen blends, and other fabrics from Merchant & Mills in England. They are used predominantly for garment sewing.Yes, we have a longer history as a yarn shop. McKinney Knittery has been in historic downtown McKinney since 2015. We renovated and moved into our 4th and current space in 2020. In doing so we tripled our square footage which allowed us to finally add fabric.We were a bit short staffed today. I'm sorry you had to wait for attention. We take pride in our outstanding customer service. I'm sorry you weren't the recipient of this today.
