Though we were told the new construction would take about 4-6 months, nine months later it was complete; we closed on that home February 3rd.
As everyone knows, when you move into a newly built home, problems will manifest. HomeMakers claims to, offer one of the best warranties in the business; so, trusting it would be taken care of immediately and to our satisfaction, we submitted our first request on February 4th. Our heater had gone out in the middle of the night for perspective, it had been below freezing here for 3 days in a row.
Our heater went out again (this has happened several times since we have moved into the house) last night. In addition to the heater not functioning properly, there have been other problems major and minor that have gone unrepaired. The newest one we woke up to this morning was not only a cold house but also no water, because the hole with exposed pipes (that was reported, and had promised to be covered, but wasnt) froze overnight.
It isnt supposed to get above freezing here until sometime tomorrow, so in my frustration, I have decided to let everyone in the area know about our situation with the builder. Before you, or anyone you know, plan to purchase a HomeMakers house here in Lubbock, maybe ask others who own one their opinion. The market here is terrible for home buyers, and options are too few, but it may be better to keep looking before settling for an affordable new home from this builder.
