image Ibn is very professional, his shop is clean, and his work is next level. The only place I will get my hair cut in lubbock.

Giulian A. on Yelp

image TL;DR Worst barber I've ever visited. The barber gives the impression that he doesn't want to be there and throws temper tantrums. When I walked into this place, I waited 10 minutes to be seen. The only person in there was Ibn (the barber), who pretended like I wasn't there the entire time I waited. I assumed he was just focused on the haircut he was giving and decided to wait a bit longer out of courtesy. After about 15 more minutes, I approached Ibn to inquire about if he takes walk-ins or not. Giving a sideways glance and a sigh of frustration he said, "if you want to get a haircut you need to make an appointment in advance". This came off like he either felt disrespected that I approached him or that he was having a bad day, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Ignoring the fact that my time would not have been wasted if he had just communicated with potential clients that walk into the shop, I asked if he had a card so that I could book an appointment for that week. To which he said that he was booked for the next week. "Ok...so when are you available?"By this point he was giving off a very frustrated impression. As if he was trying to avoid me as a client all together.Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I ignored this impression and booked an appointment for the following week. When I went in for the haircut, I explained that I wanted a taper fade 1 to a 3 (what I normally ask for at the barber in my hometown)Everything is going relatively well, then he hands me the mirror to ask if everything looks good and I see that the back-side of my head had significantly more length than I had asked for. Nearly mullet-esque. So I mentioned that to him and asked if he could bring it down to a 1 to a 3 and he immediately got visibly frustrated and aggressive. Visibly upset, he ironically says, "Now you're wasting my time" and goes on to vent his frustration by sloppily cutting the area of my hair with clippers. Mind you, his frustration is so obvious that one of the other clients in the room was looking at this unfold and laughed until he realized it was not a joke. At this point, it's obvious that he is not doing a quality cut anymore and is just rushing to get me out of there out of frustration. Once the haircut was over, Ibn shows me the tablet to pay. I put my card in, wait to get it back, and he has the audacity to put the screen back in front of me so I can add a tip. As if the experience he provided was anything better than unpleasant. If you plan on visiting this place for a haircut, just know that you're on Ibn's time. If you want him to do anything more than the bare minimum, he will make you feel like you disrespected him at best. At worst, he'll leave you with an un-even haircut and treat you like it's your fault that you didn't get the haircut you wanted. The only positive thing I can say about this barber shop is that it's located right by TTU's campus. Convenient for students walking from class, but not for people who need a parking space. If you want a quality haircut and a quality experience, this is the last place I'd visit.
