image Would not recommend at all. Once you pay your retainer fee you wont ever speak to David Shuster again, even though thats who represents you, he will have his law clerks deal with you after the initial filling with the bankruptcy court. Staff is mediocre at best, wish I would have received better advice and actually understood why we chose a chapter 13 vs a chapter 7. Had to wait 5+ months to receive payoff information. Worst of all the law clerk staff incorrectly filed my final motion for dismissal, which postponed my discharge by over 30 days with no apology. I had to stay on this law firm to get things done, constant follow up, ended up having to speak directly to the bankruptcy trustee to get answers. Dont waste your money with this law firm.

Mike - I regret to read this mentioning your frustration. Of course we met initially about the differences between the 2 chapters weighing the positives and negatives of each and also conferenced again before, during, and after your Ch 13 hearing. Over the past 4 years in your active case, we communicated by phone and email. I understand that you dealt mostly with my staff at the conclusion of your case when the final court discharge order was entered. I understand that it took 30+ days longer than you anticipated to get the title to your car at the conclusion of the case. Monique assisted with this by calling Capital One to ensure it was forthcoming. I will take this criticism into consideration with future Ch 13 cases which conclude 3-5 years after they start. I've often thought about including in the workflow, a conference with each of my clients at this time. Clients can easliy set up times to speak to me, either in person or by phone. I have no unreturned messages or requests to meet from you. I do regret your frustration and am pleased about the result in your case and wish you the absolute best of luck in the future!

image Being someone who had never needed to consider filing bankruptcy I found Shuster Law here on Google. I called and set up an appointment to come in and sit down to discuss the best options for my situation. David was kind and very understanding, taking the time to listen to my concerns and thoroughly answer all of my questions. They then walked me through the entire process step-by-step to file and get it done. I received my discharge on the 11th of January. I cant thank David and his team enough and if I ever find myself in a situation that requires legal representation within their firm's areas of expertise they will be the first call I make.

image Great for the initial bankruptcy, not great when a creditor started reporting on my credit again.
Everything with the bankruptcy went fine. It was filed in July and then done in October. I was assured that this was the only way to not be liable for my ex-husbands mortgage, which was the only reason I did a bankruptcy.
2 years later the mortgage company reports the mortgage back on my credit. They had started foreclosure proceedings, and my name was on the lawsuit.
I called the office and first I was referred by the gal who answered the phone to a credit repair office. I called again because they had told me when I filed that if any of the creditors began reporting those accounts again, it would be breaking the law and to contact them.
I spoke to a paralegal who listened to what was going on, and he said it definitely was against the law. He said he would have a retainer sent over so they could start the process. I never received the retainer. I reached out twice after that and they said they'd send it over. Finally after 2 weeks, I found a different attorney to help me and get the whole situation resolved.
Two things should have happened. They should have told me that the bankruptcy wouldn't completely remove me from anything to do with that mortgage. And they should tell people up front when they are too busy instead of wasting their time.

A Bankruptcy Discharge is a Federal Court Order and Permanent Injunction against creditors reporting on debts listed in the bankruptcy. Serious Violations of that Order are rare; however, it clearly happened to you with your ex-husband's mortgage. I'm glad my paralegal was able to give you accurate informaiton about the unlawful reporting and to take steps to attempt to remedy on your own. The Bankruptcy does Order the former mortgage creditor and other creditors to no longer report.I regret that you were notified that a retainer agreement would be sent for us to handle the issue. I apoligize for my office providing you with an indication that we would represent you with this post-bankruptcy issue with no follow-through. Unfortunately, I was not notified, and I will address this miscommunication with my staff. I regret this caused you some delay in getting the creditor to obey the law. I'm pleased you were able to get an attorney to go after this creditor for the violaiton. I typically refer these matters to another, local attorney.I hope your credit is now showing significant signs of improvement post-bankruptcy. Please call me anytime to discuss, and it was a pleasure representing you!! David Shuster
