I lived here from 2016-7. Now that I'm apartment hunting again, I thought of this place and smiled, and thought I'd give my two cents. The rent is very affordable for the space you get. Real wood flooring was nice! Close to the college, which was wonderful. Some of the appliances are outdated, probably older than I was--but when they went kaput, they were promptly replaced with new versions. In fact, very first thing that happened when I moved in: AC started blowing smoke. I went down to the office. Within an hour, they had a new AC unit installed. Same thing for my refrigerator. It died a prolonged death, and when I finally went down to the office, they were visibly horrified I'd waited--and I had a new one by the next day. Office staff was fantastic. Friendly, understanding, helpful. They'd go out of their ways to help me. I was so appreciative. No problem getting packages at all. They keep it in the main office and there's someone at hand at all times or the door is locked. Lovely to have a laundromat on hand, too. If there are downsides, it's in the apartments' age. We had to wind Cat V cable across the room from a hole drilled beside the door, for example. Architecture reflects an outdated aesthetic. But it all worked fine, and I always felt the building was solid. I rarely heard my neighbors. I only had some trouble for a while with my downstairs neighbors playing Ed Sheeran cranked up to jet-plane levels, and jet-plane levels cannot be denied by mere wood and mortar, so... not the fault of the construction, let's just say that. Pool is small, basic, but so nice to have on hand. It's usually abandoned early in the day, so it's fun to go float a while. I never knew how much I'd like having it. Fun to listen to the kids playing on a summer evening as well! :) When I left, I was returned most of my deposit, and I felt what they had taken out was fair. I left with the plug to the bathtub by accident and scuffed the wall; fair enough! Which is a good place to put... the cons! Water is just not good in the Lubbock/Levelland area; I had to get RO from Walmart. Also, perhaps this is just a problem of my second-story apartment--but the bathtub was terrible at draining (hence the plug removal) and water would back up into the dishwasher, then leave a nasty stink behind. A sewage smell would sometimes emanate from the sink. It was rare enough that it didn't impinge on my quality of life, but it's worth knowing. Parking lot is hooooorrible. Horrible! You will be dinged to kingdom come and it's not really anyone's fault. All narrow spaces and alleys, usually one way, and god forbid you meet someone coming the other way: someone is going to have to cave and back up. I've had to back into the street... blind. Eeek. In one place, half is unpaved alley, and the other half cracking asphalt, parted by telephone poles, and it's narrow on both sides. I hated it. I hated it so much. Laundry room is dirty all of the time because its door and window hang open (no internal air of its own). So all the dust and bugs and trash waft in; there's no helping for it. It was awful to drop a bit of clean laundry on the floor. Also, roughnecks fresh off the rigs put their nasty oily laundry in, and it leaves a residue. Do not believe for one moment that your laughable mortal laundry soap will take care of it. You will smell like a rig for a week. When they put in my new AC unit, they ripped off all the old caulking and never replaced it. I had to pad out the gaps with foam that they provided, but I could hear everything down in the square below, and dust came in during haboobs. When rain comes, the street in front of the apartment floods and turns into a temporary river. It's deep enough to give trucks trouble. Anyway, on the whole, I was very satisfied. I think what was best was that I could trust the office staff. They were so fair to me, always willing to listen, and incredibly friendly. I often think back to that little apartment, and fondly. Solidly built, great for the price, absolutely priceless staff.
