THIS PLACE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF SELLING TREES LIKE THIS. Almost none of the trees here have visible root flare, which means in 5,10, 20 years, the roots will girdle the trunk and kill the tree. If you have not heard about root flare, then this is what Colorado State Forest Service explains: Tree roots need oxygen to grow. When properly planting a tree, placing the root flare slightly above ground level provides the best opportunity for the tree to grow and thrive. What is the root flare? Imagine a childs drawing of a tree. The tree flares out (is wider) at ground level; it does not grow straight out of the ground like a telephone pole. This flare is what must be located before digging a hole and planting the tree. I was impatient and bought this tree that I thought had somewhat visible root flare. Sadly, when I uncovered the soil, I found the roots had already circled the trunk badly. You can see how deep the flare was buried in the last picture! I had to dispose of it, because guess what, no return on 15 gallons trees, and this place sell mostly 15 gallons and above trees.

Loved this place spent $200 + worth of flowers and flats. The zenias I bought (pink) turned white and sad. The rest of the garden looks great. Manger did not honor return policy.
