Finding a senior living community with caring and passionate staff is truly a blessing. I am thankful everyday for everyone at The Village of the Heights. Their compassion, empathy and love they show to their residents is apparent from the second you walk in. We are grateful to have our mom in wonderful hands.

Cherri Washington, Director of Sales & Marketing, have my mother and I a tour a few weeks ago of the Village of the Heights. What a difference it makes to know that your senior loved one will be cared for by such kind people. As we worked our way through the facility, the residents seemed content and happy. I firmly believe that the staff affects the happiness of the residents. If your loved one wants to live independently or if they need extra care, the Village of the Heights offers those services as well. Cherri is warm, welcoming and put my mom right at ease, immediately.

My mother was 94 when I took her in. She lived there 2 months. During that time she got a UTI and C-Diff and was not fed or given water at the end. Putting food and water on the counter that she couldn't reach does not count as feeding. The wound nurse that I had came by and found that her oxygen was extremely low. The wound nurse called for an ambulance and she died 5 days later from water on the lungs and severe dehydration. The dr. at the facility did not diagnose her properly. She died (in my opinion) from lack of care. The caretakers are ok (some better than others) but the head management, nursing staff and doctors leave a lot to be desired. It is not clean, and there is only one person per floor. I know they say two, but one sits in the chair all day. I have a list of 22 items I shared with the Executive Director. I asked why the nurses never checked her Oxygen levels. She said they did nothing if the dr. didn't write it on the chart. (Seriously) She also had a level 2 bedsore that I didn't find out about until I was there and she was being changed. So, If your loved one cannot walk or take care of themselves this is not a good place to send them, (again in my opinion). I know they have the certification but they are meaningless. Best bet is to get a home caregiver. It is expensive but it is about the same and the care is much better.
