        I discerned with the Archdiocese for about 8 months before applying to enter the seminary. Father Richard was great about meeting with me even though I was in Shreveport at the time. I ended up joining the seminary in June, and began the Propaedeutic program. This program lasted two months, and was a great foundation of prayer and human formation for seminary studies. At the end of Propaedeutic, we had a 5 day silent retreat, paired with great teachings on Ignatian discernment. After the silent retreat, I discerned not to go further with seminary studies, but I had more peace than I had ever had before in my vocation to be holy. I would certainly recommend reaching out to the office of vocations to any man who has considered the priesthood, and is unsure what that might mean for his life. Whether or not you become a priest, a willing heart will certainly bring you closer to the Lord and enable you to live in a deeper freedom!
