The staff was nice and the doctor was Very thorough but the front desk needs to work on verify insurances and let patients know some test are not covered Before they are performed so you don't get a nice surprise at the end

One star review is because of the horrendous waiting time to see the dr. Every single time you go, keep at least your 3 hours aside from your day just to wait here. I don't know if they overbook or the dr is always late to see his patients but the waiting time period is crazy every single time. Just had the appointment at 3. Was not able to see the dr until 5:45. Not worth the wait!

Went to the Katy location. Kayla the receptionist was having a personal conversation on her cell phone when I walked in so she just handed me stuff to fill out which I did. She then handed me this blank screen pad for me to sign and I asked what I was signing since it was just the signature square. This seemed to upset her so she told the person she was talking to in an irritate tone "hold on" and said it was acknowledging I received their HIPPA policy. I said "But I haven't received your HIPPA policy" which really set her off and she pointed to a table and said in an angry tone "If you want it it's over there." So I went to read it to make sure I wasn't consenting to use my info for third party marketing and went back to sign. I asked who her boss was and she said "It's Leeann. She's at the main office. Go ahead, call her." At that point I know she must be related or friends with Leeann. I did call and actually Leeann was on vacation so I spoke with someone else who just listened and said "Thank you" and hung up. Plenty of other Big Box Cataract Surgery Cowboy shops in town to stay here.

My elderly mother came in for a cataract surgery consultation and exam. My mom explained to the lady that she had 2 insurances medicare and champ VA that she receives because my dad is a 100% disabled Vet. The lady asked her if she would like to correct her nearsightedness and farsightedness and that would require a different type of surgery, she explained to her that one eye would be for distance, and the other for reading. My mom was so confused she didn't realize the lady was trying to up-sale both the exam and the surgery. When she checked out they told her that she owed $190 for the add'l mono-vision exam which she didn't understand. She had confirmed before she came that her insurances had been verified and that nothing would be out of pocket. The lady told her that was before she opted for the more expensive test, which again she didn't understand. I'm sure they verified that her insurance would not pay for the additional upgraded surgery, they just wanted to squeeze an extra $190 from a Sr. Citizen on a fixed income. I had to pay her electric bill because of these people. Run, don't walk!!!

Pros: - Ophtalmologist and medical staff in general very attentive and service oriented. - Dr. Ahmed very professional and polite. - Check-out staff: Very polite and attentive, clearly explained next steps. Cons: - Front desk check-in! Lady at front desk extremely rude and non-service oriented... Her frustrations started when I ws trying to explain to her that I had provided my insurance info prior to my appointment therefore maybe already included in their system, to which she ironically laughed saying that "I did no have a record on file due to being a new patient". I would have gladly accepted the request to provide such information but I did not appreciate her attitude. She refused to provide a pen so that I could complete the first set of check-in forms while sitting due to their "procedures". I dedided to get a pen from outside the office to fill out the forms given that she refused to provide one. After hading back the first set of forms, she handed over to me the second set, along with a clipboard that I would have appreciated to get from the beginning to complete the first set. I am not a complicated person that tries to fight people left and right. I simply had a bad back and hip pain that made me uncomfortable while standing. I will carry on with my eye treatement with Eye Center of Texas to avoid waisting extra time and since the medical staff seems to be capable and professional as opposed to their front desk check-in staff.
