Very good food, the ambiance is very soothing, our server was kind and helpful! Would highly recommend for a nice an quiet meal

everything was great except for the manager kloe. I came all the way from germany to J. Alexanders to try out the great popcorn which was hyped up by my aunts Heidi and Samantha who are regular customers and came here atleast once a week. So when we were denied even just a little bit of popcorn i was so disappointed. we asked for the manager Kloe, she arrived at the table and said we were sitting at a dining-room table at the bar and not the bar so we could not have the popcorn. My aunts were trying to explain to her that they were regulars and she did not care. She said the only way to get popcorn was to be charged. My aunts felt like peasants. I am truly traumatised like a native chinese guy in a panda express. We will never come back.

We have been long time customers of HOUSTONS, when it closed down, we start going to Merris Grill. The food has always been phenomenal the staff amazing they always remember us and take good care of us and go above and beyond to ensure an amazing experience. None of the old crew is still there and it was a brand new bar staff which was absolutely unattended when the bartender came up her first question to us was, what would you like to drink rather than just saying hello how are you doing welcome!!!! My mom and I dined at J Alexanders tonight which is the new Merris and our experience was absolutely horrible. From the moment we sat down, the bar was completely dirty, and the bartender proceeded to put menus all over the dirty bar top I had to ask her to please wipe down the bar top. My mom did not get water after she asked for water with her wine and was never asked if she wanted another glass of wine she had to get the bartenders attention. Most We are absolutely disgusted with the food and the quality. I couldnt believe that this was the same restaurant. I ordered the Seabass special and the fish was so overcooked I could barely eat it and . They also forgot the sauce over the top. We ordered the artichoke appetizer as we always do and they did not seem fresh. They seem to reheated. We used to love getting the artichokes not the same today they tasted old. We also failed to receive silverware or plates for our starter. Not what you would expect for this type of restaurant. My mom always gets the Ahi tuna salad and her tuna smelled weird and was old. When I got up to go to the bathroom, I went to use To wash my hands and there is also no soap available in the bathroom. This place is gone completely downhill and we wont be returning. We are very very sad about it because we miss the old HOUSTONS. Dont you waste your money there are far too Many options in the galleria area that are nicer and better quality food and better Service.
