      image I am an IHG diamond elite member, which means I spend 70+ nights annually on IHG/Holiday Inn properties. I have been a member since 2015, and this is possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in within the IHG brand. My wife was attending a conference late into the night and returned to the hotel at 2 am. When she returned, parking was only available in the back, and the back door was locked (her key card wouldn't unlock it). A club next door was letting out on one side of the property, and a homeless community on the other (with 50+ tents set up). She felt unsafe walking around the building in an unlit parking lot, so she went to the front desk. The employee told her the door was locked after midnight. Until she switched to Karen mode and threatened to file a complaint, he was unwilling to help. He finally agreed to open the back door for her.
      The room was dirty: a stain on the bed and some used plastic dinnerware on the floor.
      I noticed two charges on my credit card account when we checked out. One was the $50 hold, which I was aware of. The second was a $35.10 charge that I wasn't aware of. I called the front desk to enquire, and they said it was a convenience fee and taxes. I booked the hotel on points, which I have tons of. I have never been charged a convenience fee when booking with points. I even checked the online receipt, which didn't show a charge. I asked again about the convenience fee, and they couldn't tell me. Was it a fee for him opening the door last night? This was a terrible experience, and I suggest going a few extra miles away to the properties in Katy if you must stay at an IHG property. This is a trashy hotel.
