SureStay Plus by Best Western Houston Medical Center

First time staying here. We had business at MD Anderson and this place was very conveniently located just a block away from where we were needing to go the next morning. Parking is free and a little limited with a handful of disabled spots in the back of the lot. Check-in was a breeze and the clerk was very friendly. There is a laundry room, indoor pool, and small weight room. There was an old musty smell in the lobby and also in the room when we made it there. We stayed on the 4th floor with a nice view to the north. The beds were very comfortable and we slept fine. When I turned in the TV there was no picture but the sound was coming through just fine. Im pretty savvy with things and tried rebooting the device to the TV. That did the trick and after about 10 minutes it worked fine again. If my mom was staying by herself she would have had to get maintenance to address the issue. The door security latch was also just barely hanging in and probably would have been ripped out with little effort. The shower was nice but the water temperature was sensitive and you could easily make it scalding hot. Free breakfast in the morning was nice and it started at 6:30 which was a little late for us as we had appointments at 7 so we only had time to grab a coffee and muffin. The breakfast was a typical layout with the staff actually serving the hot items to you. We would stay here again just for the location and the price was reasonable at $130 total at checkout. Rooms: The rooms are typical with a small fridge and microwave. I didnt see a safe but didnt search for one. Safety: They have on-site security that is in the lobby and I also saw one waking around the grounds. Walkability: If you are going to MD Anderson this place is perfect as it is one block away. Very convenient.

The room smelled like mold and musty. Not very clean.
