Great place to live, quirky and cute with various forms of art all over the building. The landlord is a wonderful lady, and she is supportive and caring with her tenants.

I was so disappointed how run down neglected its become. The smell is heavy damp and toxic smelling. It's sad to see the neglect and creepy feeling that's happened to the living area. Like an old boarding residence.

I'm in complete amazement of that earlier review. I've lived in the Artist Lofts for nearly 10 years and I've never encountered those conditions, even at the worst. But, there never is a worst. Yet, this building was originally built in the 1890s and survived numerous hurricanes. When I see something in the works or a cart full of "art stuff," I appreciate that we have artistic innovation in progress. Other than our resident building manager/landlady/Artistic Director/den mother, Becky, I think I am the longest-living resident of NHAL (and probably the oldest), and I've never seen it better as every year it has improved. I'm posting an HONEST review of our home. I think we ALL living here appreciate Becky's efforts to keep this an outstanding place to live, and appreciate what she does and has done to make this a living space that has consistently been awarded the "Best Apartment Community" in Galveston, Texas by vote of area businesses and citizens. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and review, but that reviewer was NOT a resident of our building and certainly doesn't appreciate the work and care that is involved in maintaining a historic building like that we live in. We that live here, DO!

I have resided at the NHAL for a little over 4 years and hands down it is one of the best places I have ever lived. Becky is without question the best landlord, friend, and overall angel I have ever met. Our building is in a constant state of transformation and we are continually moving and rearranging works in progress and we love it. As a permanent resident and one who is immensely happy with our residence let me say this to any one who is lucky enough to be one of our guests, if for any reason you are ever in a quandary or find yourself with questions please feel free to ask the person you are visiting or any permanent resident. There is a reason our community has won multiple accolades and continues to do so, our building is active, lively, wonderful, and active and we would not have it any other way. So to Becky, you are an absolutely amazing human being and artist!! The NHAL is beyond lucky to have you and we consider you family To unsatisfied visitors, our building is not dank, cluttered, unsightly, run down, nor does it have a smell , once again if you or your associated visitors ever have any questions then grow up and ask someone who actually resides in this wonderful place and call it home instead of taking the cheap low road of Google Reviews If you do not like this then reach out to one of your associates in the building and we will be happy to sit you down and explain just how wonderful our home is!!! Becky.never sweat the idiots, we love you and thank you for all that you do!!!
