This place has a senior and military discount. Even without the discount it is 12 dollars per. They play a 12 minutes video every 15 minutes or so in one of the building. They have all different buildings you can go look into. It was a great time for me and was worth every single minutes. I don't want to spoil(?) too much of it but all I'll say is it was educational and fun! I'm not really a big museum guy but this one was pretty good and I definitely had a good time.

Such a cool place with multiple versions of different homes people lived in in the late 1800's to early 1900's. You get to walk through all of them and in most of them are audio from people/relatives of people who lived in them. Even with the houses not having A/C in them, they were pretty damn comfortable to be in for 10-15 minutes. Definitely recommend the visit!

Nice documentary on how the area was settled and the hardships people faced getting there from Indianola..where their ship landed.

About
Pioneer Museum
The Gillespie County Historical Society (GCHS) was charted in 1935 as stewards of the newly built Vereins Kirche Museum. Over the last eighty-six years, the GCHS has continued its care of the Vereins Kirche, while also adding the 3.5-acre Pioneer Museum complex; the Schandua House; the Marschall-Meusebach Cemetery, and most recently, interpretation at the Old Gillespie County Jail. Along with caring for these historic sites, the GCHS office also provides help with research; image identification; general history queries regarding Fredericksburg and Gillespie County, and providing tours of our properties for both schools and adult tour groups. The Pioneer Museum will inspire visitors of all ages as they discover these amazing stories.
