Sent an email with no response from the business.
My initial encounter with Esta was unsettling as she found it okay to ask why I spelled my sons name in a different way and proceeded to say why do you all do that? referring to African Americans and how names are spelled.
When I moved into the complex, the apartment had not been cleaned before I received my keys, I cleaned the entire apartment and was forced to shampoo the carpets because Esta stated that the complex did not shampoo carpets before new tenants moved in; which was disturbing.
At the beginning of August 2020, I spoke with ECIS regarding internet service and was informed that a resident already had the service in the complex, but they needed approval for each individual unit.
I called Esta and asked if I could get approval because my children would be starting school soon. She answered no, the property owner wouldnt allow it.
I asked if there were any exceptions that could be made due to COVID and reiterated that it would be needed for my childrens education. Once again, she said no, the only thing that would be allowed would be to have them put it in a flowerpot on the balcony When she knew that would not work. I eventually said okay and hung up.
Within minutes, I called Esta back and told her that I would be moving. She proceeded to ask, why are you moving. I explained to her that I would need the internet service for my children for school purposes.
She then said well let me call the owner of the property to see if hell allow it. Oh, you know what? Theres one girl that lives in the apartments that has the internet. She said that she would pay for the repairs if we allowed her to get the internet so that she could work from home.
I expressed yes, I know. I called ECIS before speaking with you and they told me about someone else having service, but theyd need approval for each unit.
Esta then made the call and immediately called me back and said, the owner said that hell allow it for school. I told Esta that I would weigh my options and call her back.
After thinking about the whole situation and how I had been treated by her, I made the decision to leave.
After moving, I spoke with Jeff (maintenance) and asked him about the inspection process and he stated that as long as there was no major damage to the unit (which there wasnt and the unit was cleaner than when I moved in) that I would get my full deposit back.
I received a call from Esta stating that she was unable to do the walk-thru with me and that I would be charged a $200 fee for floors not being vacuumed, stove/fridge not being cleaned, & bathrooms not being cleaned. The unit was left in good condition. I reminded her of the condition in which I moved into the apartment and what I had to do before moving in.
From there she attempted to make nice and once again tried to ask why I left.
I left because she initially chose to put me and my children in a compromising position by refusing to make accommodations regarding internet service and the whole world is literally having to adjust due to COVID.
Esta uses her authority and prejudice to allow, reject, or manipulate rules for certain residents and prospecting tenants; only attempting to have some sort of customer service mentality when she fears that shell be reported.
