Few things make an Italian restaurant good. The sauce is one of them. Sadly, the sauce at Campisi's is not good. It tastes sweetened, and when mixed with the Parmesan, it is slightly and uncomfortably reminiscent of vomit. That is usually enough to ruin an Italian restaurant experience (additionally to telling me the Parmesan is the powder kind and the sauce is the container kind). As for the experience, we also had the bruschetta, which weirdly enough, had vinaigrette on top. The acidity is supposed to come from the tomatoes, no need for vinaigrette! My salad was swimming in water. The server also forgot our bread. The restaurant's main redeeming quality so far is their patio, but hey, maybe their pizza is better. We didn't try everything on the menu, I would suggest staying away from the red sauce items and asking for no vinaigrette on the bruschetta. A tip to the owners, invest in real Parmesiano Reggiano and make your pasta sauce from scratch. If you're not going to make your pasta from scratch, at least get those two things right. Train your servers. Get some good quality control on the food going out. And for goodness sake, do not put vinaigrette on bruschetta.
