SINKING PLOTS AND BAD GRASS UP KEEP## Ive spent many years here, days and nights...the last few years it seems That I notice alot of bad stuff. What stuff? Well grass for one has gone down..the up keep of this ppace has just went down bad. Ive never seen so many sand spots in my 30 yrs coming here. The grass is not as it once was. Then I notice plots....oh my gosh, those are very important pieces of a person who was once here...they are sinking or covered in mudd. Then theres the security...i I WAS PARKED on the line in Between spaces on a Sunday, noone around me and he interrupted my visit to make me move my car. Im sure it wasnt a bother to anyone since I was the only one in the parking lot.

I bought a policy in my late 20's. My mom checked on her policy& I asked her to check up on mine. She told they still had it but was really not worth much so I planned to update & get more coverage. But I let go by and forgot abt it..since then both parents are deceased& called Mount olive to get .more coverage on my policy and they can't find it they said they checked everywhere.. I planned to be buried there but I've changed my mind because they are not doing anythg abt.. if I get a policy how do I know they won't lose it again..my family and friends are buried there. It's not OK that they find it. I had a policy& they need to keep on looking for it.till they do find it.

My biggest complaint is about that South Gate being permanently closed leaving only one way in & out! Put up some security cameras! My parents are in the back & winding down thru the maze , not to mention trying to respect burials going on, when I used to go thru that back gate & be there! Just think that make enough to handle the problem some other way.

Mount Olivet at 2301 N. Sylvania Avenue, is labeled as "Fort Worth's most beutiful and convenient perpetual care cemetery." It was established in 1907. While visiting this place the other day, i saw some people enjoying a nice stroll in the 130 acres park-like setting, littered with crypts, musoleum, monuments and trees. I believe that visiting the resting place of a loved one bring peace to our soul and may be good therapy. We can then realize that sooner or later we too have to go and maybe unexpectedly; that we can not bring anything with us except that which we have given away.

Mr. Mos...I am sorry to hear about the missing cemetery information. I cannot really comment on your situation without having more information, but I can certainly understand why you would feel the way you do. However, the mystery continues. Here is what I suggest. Please search your records for anything that would show your property ownership. Your contract. A cancelled check. Correspondence. Anything. My question is, can it be possible that you had purchased an insurance policy that was not through our cemetery? In the meantime, I will be sending your comments to our management team so they can look into this further.

Sammye...Thanks for your kind review. I certainly understand your concerns. I feel the same way. The problem is that it is impossible even with cameras to canvas the whole cemetery. I have to do the same thing when I visit the Doughboy and American GI Statues and the burial grounds designated for our military heroes. By limiting the number of entry points, it cuts down on potential problems and makes it a safe space for all to visit. One thing that many people don't realize is that Mount Olivet is owned by a not-for-profit organization and although it is intensely managed, there is not an unlimited budget. That is why the care of the cemetery will be first class forever, hundreds of years from now. Mount Olivet was the first perpetual care cemetery in Fort Worth, and a beautiful blessing for all who are buried there and for those like yourself who honor their memory. Thank you for your input.

Blake… your words are like the first rays of the morning light, an encouragement for the day. encouraging. Thank you. They are especially encouraging, because you speak to the very purpose of what a cemetery is and what it is for. A place of peace, a place to remember, and a reminder that time is short. The lives that are represented by each of the thousands of markers are more than pieces of stone or granite. They are mementos of a life that was lived, memorials to help us remember lest through forgetfulness their memory and love be slowly withdrawn from our hearts and we become less for it, as well as future generations who may never know the root and fabric from which families are made and sustained. So many stories are buried there and much can be learned from them.Blessings…
