My wife and I were over 150K in debt and facing no way to continue to pay the monthly bills. A friend's financial advisor looked at my situation and because of my wife's and my age (74), he said to file bankruptcy. The psychological pressure over the last few years to manipulate finances to make all my monthly payments was overbearing and we were virtually out of ways to continue to be solvent. We were able to keep our home and car. The only thing we lost was the horrible debt.
