I was not treated as a person. They are only interested in long term clients. Dont bother if youre not going to give them most of your money.

There are plenty of CPAs out there but there is not a single one outside of Chandler and Knowles that I would trust for my business. They are on top of every new curveball the IRS throws and they always make sure you are protected with max savings!

They had completed my tax returns for almost 20 years and I always paid my fees on time. I was always pleased with their work. They changed their billing to make me pay monthly in advance of my taxes being completed which I never heard of considering it was only $500 a year. Then they said they were going to increase my fees to $1000 a year. I had advised them my returns would be simple since I just retired. Also every time you asked them a question which was not often they would bill me. I think they are focused on working with small businesses and this year I found a new CPA who did a great job for $400. I also referred many people to them over the years. I cant believe how they treated me. I would have never treated a long time customer like this in my professional career.

This seems to be a large accounting firm more suitable for large corporations. I found them impersonal, unfriendly and condescending The first thing I was asked to do was to fill out a 20 page questionnaire- most of those questions were irrelevant to my situation. They do send out mass mailings with tax information and deadlines.::some will go into spam mailbox. My tax return was prepared at last minute last year - didnt feel my interest were a priority

Similar experience as Cesar Munoz. My husband and I had a lot happen in 2022 that would affect our taxes so we attempted to work with Chandler & Knowles. We paid $200 only to be given a portal login and a request to fill out a 20 page questionnaire. We wanted to meet in person, but we were told they don't have time to meet with us in person during tax season. We submitted the documentation and then we were hit with another $200 charge before they even did anything. We also planned to use their financial planning services but never ended up with an appointment. Apparently this was our fault for not calling and (very explicitly?) stating that we wanted to schedule an appointment, even though we called several times and stated we wanted to use these services. I guess we were expected to call and say that the entire purpose for the call was to schedule an appointment? We were going to be paying them a lot of money for them to treat us like another number and to ultimately do most of the work ourselves, so we decided to take our business elsewhere. I've received better service at HR Block. Edit to respond to C&K's response: Interesting that you're too busy to help your customers with questions during tax season, but you had time to write this lengthy response. It became quickly apparent that your firm was "too busy" to clear up our misunderstandings. Not once did anyone communicate to us that we only had to fill out the first 5 pages of the questionnaire. In fact, when we called to ask for help filling out the questionnaire, this is when we were told you were too busy during tax season and to just submit the questionnaire and we'd be notified if we made any mistakes- it was never mentioned that we only needed to fill out the first 5 pages. We never received a single communication from you after the engagement letter. On that note- we did, in fact, sign the engagement letter. However, we were under the impression that we would be receiving more personalized, 1:1 service based on our initial call. Not given a portal and told you were too busy to help. Also, do not blame the fact that the calls were with my husband and not me. I was sitting in the room every single time he called and he had it on speakerphone. I heard every single conversation, so there was no "confusion" on my part. Every single time he called, he asked about the financial planning services and somehow we never ended up with an appointment. Plain and simple. Your firm made excuses every step along the way, and your response to this review is another example. We were paying YOU to HELP us with our taxes, UNDERSTAND our taxes, and HELP us with financial planning-none of this happened. But, great response here demonstrating that you couldn't just apologize for the obvious misses and move on-you had to push the blame off on your customers one final time.
