If you're a female, 18-24 aging out of foster/facing homelessness this is the place for you IF you have experience in SIL programs (you are allowed to stay only 2 years, but I've seen the BEST client stay a full 3 years). This organization has much higher standards of conduct than all programs in the area. Probably because they only have space for 10 ladies at a time, and because they will give you $500/month to stay there, your own room, and your own bathroom! You will give them 30% of your check every time you get paid. But it will be put into a savings account for when you leave. They do not practice in felt safety like ACH child and family services, probably because they can't afford to (since they're putting that money back into you). This made me feel like I could lose this place with one mistake since day one... If you prove your worth with time, they will work with you in many ways but youll be held to a higher standard, aka less leniency than the ppl who don't know how to act. This program wants you to be part of community events 2x a week. I'm glad I went in during COVID when this stopped. It's confusing to want to be a part of a community, but also stay arms length from people who dont encourage you to be your best self. There was some great therapy opportunities provided by Ms. Kristin highly recommend. Once you turn 18, its your responsibility to be an adult regardless of who wasn't there or didn't do what they were supposed to. Additionally, I never felt pressured into religions as an atheist @ next step, I'm grateful for it- it's hard to find with SIL. I am very grateful to Ms. Gerard and Ms. Kay. Not just for the money and being good role models, but for a beautiful place to stay, and the chance to learn how to be fiscally responsible, and socially responsible with PPE, chores, free therapy, and relationship building. I highly recommend this NOT being your *first* SIL program, make your mistakes elsewhere FIRST then apply here, because if you're lucky enough to get in, you do NOT want to waste this opportunity
