I have an AARP Auto policy. My premium went up last six months. I called to ask why. I asked if I was getting all my discounts. She said I was and it was overall rate increase. I started receiving requests to write a homeowners policy to get multi policy discount. I thought that strange since I already had a HO 4 policy with them. I called The Hartford to ask her why I was getting request to write HO policy when I already had a HO4 with them. She brushed it off and told me to call AARP. I said, Why? The letters are coming from you not them. She was totally incompetent to help me. I got my renewal for January last week. It had increased $100 again. The young lady assured me I was getting all my discounts. I mentioned to her about getting the requests to write a HO policy. I again asked why they would be doing that when I had a HO4. Bless her, she actually tried to help me! Unlike the previous representative who just brushed me off. She said I wasnt getting my multi-policy discount on my auto. But computers were down, I needed to call back Mon. I called back today, Wednesday, and she confirmed I was not getting my multi policy discount on my auto, but she couldnt back date to credit to the beginning of my policy. I asked why, because I called on increase before the policy renewed this current period and the middle of policy period. It was totally their mistake. Also, yes, they give us a discount for being an AARP member but then charge us an $85. policy fee. That is an exorbitant amount!

I was carrying my mother on my membership while she also had a membership at the same address but AARP says they had no way to make me aware. And, they can't do anything about the past. : - (

My parents have been having a really hard time getting help with the phone customer service reps and we went to the office to see what we could get helped with. A wonderful woman... Barbara Hill, took us to her office and helped us out. She was great and even though she couldn't help us with our issue she got on the phone and helped us locate the correct department. A small act of kindness and lending an ear to hear us out really came a long way.
