Crystal Montiel Makeup

Ive been going to a Crystal for a few years now, and I am obsessed with her and her work! Not only is she the kindest person, her work is beautiful! Love her so much!

Ive been going to Crystal more times than I can count on my hands, I keep going to her for 2 reasons and 2 reasons only. 1. Her makeup skills are amazing! She can do everything I request every time from that natural bronze look to graphic liner and diamonds. And 2. being the introvert that I am, its hard to find people that work well with you, that can communicate and ultimately make your session comfortable and not be awkwardly silent the whole time. Shes amazing and I love everything about her from her personality to the environment. I cant see myself looking for anyone else unless shes booked lol. I had an appointment with Crystal for my engagement shoot, and I was initially very excited because her instagram showcased some nice makeup looks. However, my experience didn't match my expectations. It wasn't until I left her apartment that I realized the makeup didn't look as great as I had hoped. The ring lights used during the appointment seemed to alter how I appeared, and when I took a selfie outside, I noticed the makeup wasn't flattering. It was only when I met with my sisters, and they shared the same opinion that I began to doubt the makeup. Unfortunately, it was too late to redo my makeup, so I proceeded with the photo session using Crystal's work. It was only when I received the photos from the photographer that I realized the makeup aged me and made my eyes look small. It was disappointing because the photographer did an excellent job. I gave Crystal three stars because she's a sweet person, and the overall experience was pleasant. However, I wish she would allow her clients to see themselves in natural lighting before leaving her place. This way, they can make necessary adjustments before heading out, as ring lights can significantly differ from natural lighting. After seeing my engagement pictures, I emailed her expressing how I felt but unfortunately, I never received a response. This left me feeling disappointed and frustrated with the lack of communication.

If I could give her zero stars for business etiquette I would. DO NOT BOOK HER! I unfortunately paid her $150 deposit on April 20th for a party of 5. I emailed her on September 8th to confirm prices. She responded by email on September 12th but claimed she lost our original email thread. I got this text from her on NOVEMBER 1st Hello Amna! Im so sorry I missed this text message! I have makeup for 5 bridesmaids antminus thedeposit of $150 for the remaining balance at $500. You do not answer a client two months later for something as important as a wedding and consistently show that client how unimportant you are by forgetting to text them back and/or lose email threads. I panicked and hired someone else because clearly I had not heard from her. SHE CANCELLED MY BOOKING WITHOUT ME EVEN ASKING HER TO. I asked if she could do another day and she said she was going out of town. I then told her I would have someone get their makeup done. She was so unapologetic and rude, had already cancelled my appointment without me asking her to and then wouldnt even give me money back. I wont get my money back but at least I can help someone from saving theirs. AWFUL!!! I am actually not the bride but from the bridal party and it shows how much you care about your clients considering we spoke over the phone. If you do not want to respond to clients texts then you should not give them your number and/or make it known you do not answer texts AND you told me you do not celebrate Christmas, you definitely did not overly extend yourself to accommodate me, that was made clear by your lack in communication and respect.

Crystal was amazing! She did my make-up for family pictures, and I received so many compliments. I have already re-booked with her for next month! Highly recommend!
