DISAPPOINTED and here's why. THE GOOD SALON The salon itself was decorated nicely. The bathroom was clean, spacious and stocked. I love that the toilet room is separate from the sink area. The salon itself is cold and clean which I liked. I realized they make the salon cold because the MUAs are under that bright lamp. There are multiple artists at this salon but I booked with Cham. PARKING Parking is free and available. There is an attached lot, when I arrived the lot had two open parking spots, but one had a driver who parked over the line so that one did not count. Also people park within the lot but not in a parking space which makes it difficult to park in the spaces at the end if that makes sense since it is tighter to pull in with the cars parallel parked across from the parking spaces. I don't even know if that is allowed or people were just desperate for a spot. There is also street parking. THE NOT SO GOOD TIMELINESS I booked with Cham and I learned about her from Instagram, had been following her for some time and decided to book for the event I had over the weekend since the other person I wanted to book with was booked. I booked for 11AM appointment in advance (deposit required and with service fee $50 deposit was $51.50). She texted me the night before asking if I could come in 30 minutes later at 11:30AM, which I agreed to (I was given a heads up which I appreciated and I could still make it to my event in time). I arrived at 11:29AM, and she had a client that she was still finishing in her chair. She acknowledged me and said it would be a little bit while she is finishing up the client's lip. Lip, turned into blush, turned into some other stuff. And just a bit, turned into an additional 23 minutes. She started my makeup at 11:53 AM, now my time was running out because I have now been delayed by technically 53 minutes, but since she requested to reschedule me the night before, she was 23 minutes late. She did not apologize for her tardiness, only thanked me for my patience. PROFESSIONALISM There is a lot of gossip fodder amongst the MUAs, which killed the vibe of the salon. I wanted to enjoy the R&B music playing (think Anita Baker, Luther Vandross, Ron Isley and the Isley Bros, etc). but instead I'm hearing about one of the MUAs friends who is down on their luck, and my MUA discussing one of her high profile clients (I won't say who), complaining about how that high profile client ran her dry and worked her. I didn't think this was professional because you are discussing this in front of your client. Word of mouth travels far and if you're down talking your previously serviced clients in front of your current clients, what makes you think they will feel welcomed and comfortable to return. She also took a lot of pauses, which I thought was odd especially because you are already running 23 minutes behind. SERVICE FEES I wouldn't know how to avoid the service fees but other MUAs accept Zelle. Through her website, to send the deposit, there is an additional $1.50 charge, and when the invoice is sent, there is a 3% service charge so $100 remaining balance was $103.5. I also disliked how you are bombarded with requests to tip, both when booking (and submitting deposit) and at time of invoice after service is complete. Prices are pretty steep as is, but standard amongst other MUAs (so I'm not knocking her prices); however, requesting tip automatically even before you have been serviced is very offsetting. I have used multiple MUAs and she is the only one I have seen request a tip. THE ACTUAL MAKEUP I was disappointed. I felt my eyeshadow was overdone, my blush was too rosy (I actually had to ask her to tone it down) and she did not match the foundation. It was too red-tone, and I'm not that at all. You could see the demarcation line between my hair line showing my real skin and where she started the makeup application. I was appalled once I got home and saw it up close.
