Because Texas existing water resources are limited, we sought to find a landscape artist/architect to create a sustainable back yard that would require little water and would have native plants that could withstand future droughts. Robert Leeper is a creative genius. He transformed our unhappy back yard from a barren space of dirt, dead lawn, and a collection of overgrown shrubs into a stylishly modern multi-use space-- within our budget. Our yard was sloped and he cut it into a series of terraced steps. It looks very European and minimal which we love. He used a mixture of pavers and pea gravel and reduced but elevated our lawn in a steel frame by carving out the earth. We now have a mixture of distinct modern areas that looks very sleek and symmetrical.

I wish there were more than 5 stars! I can't say enough about Robert's work. He transformed my yard from an ugly mess to an ordered, beautiful landscaped yard. He has great ideas, goes out of his way to use native plants and is detailed oriented. I had my complete yard done, front, back and sides. He installed limestone brick walls, plants, mulch, gravel, and even a fully automated irrigation drip system, so I don't even have to worry about with watering. After the first job, I had him do additional work. Can't recommend Robert enough!

Robert took our design criteria: no watering and no mowing and created one of the most beautiful natural landscapes. Using only native, deer resistant plant material which means lots of native grasses, mountain laurel and agave, the landscape is beautiful year round. Summer and spring the wind creates motion in the grasses and the sun shines through the feathery blossoms. Fall and winter colors accent the architectural elements of the house. He is fabulous with colors! And his crew is great. Stone mason is amazing.

We interviewed 3 landscape designers before finally selecting Robert Leeper Landscapes to build a landscape design for us. Robert put together a very comprehensive (multi-phase) plan for our very large and barren yard for a very affordable price (I couldn't believe some of the high cost estimates other landscape designers came up with). I asked him for 3 references for implementing the work. The references checked out, and we were very excited to embark on the project with Robert & OJ (his crew foreman). We changed a few of the items on the landscape design during the design phase, and Robert was very willing to work with us on that. He 'got' what we wanted in the yard very quickly (1000 photos from Sunset Magazine certainly helped) and built the plan to accomodate our needs.My only beef was that it definitely took longer than the original plan mostly because the stonework ended up eating a lot of time. One other issue was that while they have built many other firepits, they had never done a gas one before. I had to do some additional last minute leg work with the gas company to get gas to my firepit. Robert tries very hard to stay within the budget. We needed to add an extra week to the project in order to finalize some of the stonework we had installed. I have neighbors stop me and compliment me on the design. We love showing it off and taking people behind the fence to see the really fun stuff (the zen fountain, fire pit, and huge stone 'fence' around a 100 year old Oak tree). We always get lots of oooowwss and aaaahhhhhs on our modern xeriscape yard. (note to all buyers who think a crushed granite yard is low maintance...not! you will still be pulling weeds out of the crushed granite).Robert's design skills are top notch! And the team is very professional. They show up on time and get the work done. I will be hiring them again for the next phase of implementation (and design!).

Robert Leeper Landscapes has it all: amazing design ideas, skilled and professional crew, great personalities to work with -- it's fun to work with the designers and the crew are friendly and so professional. I've worked with them for about five years on large projects and small ones and have had the best experiences ever. They are particularly great at taking my stabs at a concept or theme and making it into a design that is affordable and fits my property. Also, their foremen and crew are great to have around and always make sure everything looks great, works well, is totally cleaned up after the job. Couldn't be happier with this company!
