My buddy has been planning his bachelor trip around a fly fishing trip with Greg for the past month. 8 guys taking off work an extra day and flying into Austin for this trip for this weekend (5/7) and we were told yesterday (3 days before our trip) by Greg that he never put us in the system and now all his guides are booked for this weekend and there was nothing he could do at this point. I called another local guide service and they said that this is definitely not this first time this is happened with Greg and that he doesn't even live in Austin, he lives in Florida. Their advice to me was never to trust Greg or book with him again and that is my advice to anyone else. If I could give less than 1 star, I would.

Greg is top notch when it comes to customer service! Friendly, prompt, and goes above and beyond. We were looking forward to this experience, but 10 days out from our trip we unfortunately had to cancel due to Covid. Flexible and understanding, Greg refunded us right away. We're looking forward to fishing with him in the future!

I called River Hills 3 times to book a birthday fishing trip for my husband and son. When they finally answered on the third call over 3 days, the man was very short with me and said he would call me right back. I never heard from him again. Poor customer relations.

This was the first time my 7yo son and I have ever been fly fishing. Greg was an incredible instructor and guide. He was also very patient and encouraging to my son. The first part of the trip on the Guadalupe River was spent with excellent instruction for the both of us. Luckily, there were some waders fishing in the water and he could critique their technique, both good & bad. We were watching a fisherman hook a large trout that jumped out of the water, and Greg predicted he would lose the fish based on how the man was holding the fly rod....sure enough, he lost it. It was actually very helpful in watching other fisherman land and lose fish, and he was very respectful, when pointing out do's and dont's. After some great instruction, we rafted and waded to different areas of the river, and were getting so many bites from rainbow trout. We didn't land each one of them, but that was part of the fun. Greg was providing us the experience of fly fishing and that casting, attracting & hooking fish was all part of the art, regardless of whether we landed the fish or not. We were getting so many hits, and it was catch and release (which disappointed my son. Greg was a fantastic instructor and skilled rafter; it was beautiful scenery, awesome weather, and he was interesting to talk to as well. I REALLY appreciate the interest and patience he had toward my son. We BOTH had a great time, and it was definitely a memory that we will cherish. Observing him interact with other guides and their clients, I can see that he was a pure advocate of the sport. I didn't see much action from other guide parties; I can tell the other guides were jealous of us, because we were literally getting so many bites; very exciting. THANKS GREG!!! CHRIS LINGAN

I don't know if Greg Smith can catch fish or not. I didnt fish with him...and never will. I know he is not a man of his word. After our scheduled outing got rained out, he agreed to refund my deposit. (I have the text messages to prove it.). I didnt hear from him for 2 weeks and still had not received my $100. I called, I texted repeatedly. When he finally called back he said he needed a couple of weeks to pay me back. I agreed. Yep, you guessed it. Didnt hear from him! Like I said, I dont know if he can catch fish but I do know that if you have a business and need a two week loan that you cant pay back...you sure as hell cant manage money. If you cant manage money, it means you are not responsible. Do yourself a favor, just pick someone else. This guys a flake.
