Well my business partner and I will be taking our business elsewhere. Brenda missed our tax filing deadline because we are "new clients" and she hasn't had time to set up the file. This is the worst customer service.

She claimed I backed into her auto while I was "parked."! Hello! No way but Progress, i.e. George Soros, ruled in her favor. Go figure! She had auto paint smudge on her vehicle which was not the color of my vehicle. My vehicle had no evidence of any damage! She left scene of accident to go to police station rather than phoning police station. Afterwards, I went to police station and they agreed it could NOT have been my fault. I would never trust her with my confidential files!

My experience with that company was very positive. Brenda and her staff went above and beyond for me and my small company. I look forward to a long business relationship with her.

Our small corporation used her as our CPA for 10 years. She is a very busy person and became very short and frustrated when asked questions about taxes or the like. Her office often took many months to complete our tax returns despite having most numbers calculated, itemized and sorted for her. The rest of the figures were easily found in our Quickbooks program. We had to file an extension almost every year. Also, her office continued sending correspondence to a PO Box that had been inactive for several years, despite being told to no longer use it, causing much confusion and returned letters from her AND the IRS. Finally, around the beginning of the year, I mentioned in a text to one of her employees (we had been texting accounting related conversations back and forth for several months) that we MAY be finding a new CPA in the future because in a few months we will be moving over an hour away, and it would be difficult to travel to her office. But I stated that I would still need her office to prepare our 1099's that were due January 31st this year. Even though I stated BEFORE her deadline that I would like her to prepare them for us, I never received a reply. Her employee FINALLY responded in a text that I should speak with Brenda directly. I called and left 2 messages. After the second message she called me back and told me that she took my comment about "finding a new CPA in the FUTURE" as me saying that we didn't want to use her AT ALL from that point forward and said she would not be preparing our 1099's. THAT conversation happened the day before 1099's were to be sent out. I tried to explain to her that that is NOT what was said and that I still needed her to prepare those documents for us and she flat out REFUSED. She told me that once a client goes elsewhere she archives their file and doesn't do any further work for them. I can understand that, but I NEVER said that we didn't want to use her any longer or that we even found a new CPA. She was VERY rude and condescending, as she has been in the past with myself and another known client of hers. Luckily, I DID find someone in a pinch to prepare our 1099's so they ARE in compliance. No thanks to Brenda McElwee....at all. My advice to anyone reading this review is to look elsewhere and stay OUT of Aransas Pass, Texas for professional financial services. ***UPDATE*** October 2017 We had our taxes done by someone else for the first time in ten years. This new person only charged us $125 instead of Brenda's nearly $1000! And, I believe this new person actually used the deductions I handed in because we owe nearly nothing instead of thousands of dollars! Wow! What a difference!
