Black Walnut Cafe

I am never going to fully like a place that doesn't have table service, so I marked down for that. Personal opinion, of course, but then again this is my rating. I was taken a little by surprise before I even walked in because they are a cashless restaurant and they have this lettered onto the door. When you go in, it's open seating and you seat yourself. We were greeted at the door and the prices was explained and each person was provided a menu. Then, you go to the counter to place your order and pay up front. Then you get your own drink from the fountain, etc and return to your seat. Then your food is brought to the table which is identified by a numbered coaster that they give you when you order. The one exception to this is the bar, which is full service. While I was disappointed by the table service situation, the food did make up for it. I had the Nashville hot chicken Benedict and it was excellent! I ate every bite and everyone else at the table did the same. The prices are reasonable - not cheap but not expensive either; most entrees are in the $14-15 range.

Ordered out from Black Walnut Cafe Allen. Ordered the Pot Roast on 3/29. The initial meal wasn't up to my expectations but Black Walnut promptly contacted me to ensure I was subsequently satisfied. This is rare customer service in this day and age showing the professionalism of the restaurant. At the end of the day, I'm very satisfied with Black Walnut as I've had numerous positive experiences with them.

The food was delicious!! The buttermilk pancakes were absolutely phenomenal!
