I was referred by my Orthopaedics doctors nurse to have Star Physical Therapy regrading my shoulder injury. My initial appointment with Star Physical Therapy I stated that I had an injury from a seizure that I had last year and I have in my back left shoulder blade back pain and that my doctor had stated I need to get the knot massaged out during my physical therapy sessions with Derek. He agreed and I moved forward. From January 2024 until the end of March I believe Derek and his staff barely massaged out the knot in my left shoulder blade. I was initially going twice a week but these PT sessions are costing me $90 a session. And I was seeing that Derek would wait until about the last 10 minutes to massage out the knot in my left shoulder blade. So I cut my sessions until one pt session per week. I was advised by my doctors nurse to speak up for myself and advocate. So I toke her advice and I would ask Derek to massage out the knot in my left shoulder blade and again he would wait until the last 5-10 minutes of my PT session to even touch that spot. On my last pt session Derek advised me he would use a device because that would relieve his hands from massaging during my pt session. The knot is from arthritis and I cant reach back there and massage it out myself. I am paying for pt and part of PT is to relieve pain, and help move better or strengthen weekend muscles. My previous PT therapist moved out of state and he was good. I do not know why Derek would not massage my left back shoulder blade during our pt sessions. Even after I mentioned it to him several times because I started noticing he would not massage my injury area and if he did it was briefly. Which I should have never had to mention it to him during our PT sessions. I would look around and Derek would be massaging another person injury for the entire time I was there for an hour. It felt like he would just accept my appointment and have me doing exercises for shoulder and neck but still I would leave my pt session with that knot still sore and hurting because he never gave my shoulder back pain the attention it needed. I finally booked a session with a massage sports medicine pt and he asked me how long I was going to Star Physical Therapy and I stated since January and he said your knot is still there. Had I got the proper treatment during my 3 months with Star PT my shoulder blade pain would have on its way to healing a lot sooner. Instead Star PT was taking my money and not listening to me and assisting with relieving my should blade pain. Keep in mind none of these sessions are cheap. Keep in mind he is the director and he should have set the standard. Even when I called and advised him he did not apologize and or act like he cared at all. I am glad I stopped going to Star PT because I would rather pay for a service that cares about overall care.
