Once upon a time, the Comprehensive Care Center actually did what it was named; they cared for an HIV patient in their entirety. This place has absolutely lost its purpose. The Comprehensive Care Center (CCC) now simply obsesses over only your HIV "numbers" and performs the simple (mindless) act of prescribing HIV medicine. They have completely forgotten that HIV is a dynamic, chronic disease and both the illness and the medicines prescribed for it can be abusive and loaded with nasty side effects. They have become mindless that some of us have been fighting this battle for over three decades. The CCC's dull 'solution' is to farm you out to other providers by piling you up with useless, hopeless referrals. I guess that keeps their conscience clean. These days, ANY doctor with any TRUE compassion is fully capable of dealing with an HIV positive patient- it's my hope that I can actually find one of those doctors for they no longer exist at the CCC. Superficial treatment and combative miserable employees are all that's left at the empty husk that is now the CCC. To be honest, they should rename themselves 'Really Limited Care Center' as that would be far more accurate.

Ive been pos for 31 years and can say that HIV care at the ccc has never been so poor. Spent a full day trying to reach the ccc, no one answered the phone. Vumc makes multi million dollar profits on HIV care every year. They should do labs in the office and put an end to making people walk a mile away, wait for another hour just to get Bloodwork drawn. This practice alone makes it clear to me where vumc priorities are focused, its not client care. I had a temp of 103, could hardly walk, but i eventually made it to the lab just to be told the wait was an hour. Thats ridiculous and not in line with whats best for the patient. They should at least have an option for people who are sick to get their blood drawn in the ccc and not be required to walk to the lab thats on the opposite end of the mall. Cant seem to keep a Dr, Ive had four in the past 1.5 years. How can i feel comfortable with the Dr when its constantly changing. These are some of the reasons I am looking for a new place to manage my HIV care. If youre a patient of ccc I invite you to join in the fight for our right to have lab work done in the ccc office again.
