We were very excited for a long weekend in Nashville. Booked 2 rooms (connecting) using our hard earned points. The hotel was disappointing. Lacks attention to detail. Cleanliness and maintenance take a back seat here. 1 of the rooms smelled of cigarettes. Pool was very cold. Fire pit is not working. Plastic was melted in the oven. Love Marriott Hotels, but I'd pass on this hotel!

Gigi, at the front desk, was absolutely awesome, super friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and kept up well. Overall a great stay. The only reason for the 4 star is it lacked the wow factor. That being said, they are on the cusp. Definitely worth staying here if you are in town.

After staying in this particular Residence Inn hotel for 3+ months (for business), here is the real story for Residence Inn by Marriott Nashville at Opryland. #1 The Room: Size and layout was nice but it was infested with bugs and had to constantly receive treatments to kill the bugs. They said all the rooms have bugs?? Not sure why that's ok. Our room had electrical & plumbing problems that the maintenance staff needed to work on constantly which became very disruptive when trying to work at the same time. Sometimes the electricity just doesn't work - no explanation. A lot of time with maintenance people in our room trying to fix it. The water in the tub just wouldn't go down. They worked on it several times but were unable to resolve and finally gave us a plunger so we didn't need to have maintenance in our room all the time. #2 Laundry: They do have laundry service on site. The machines require quarters, but the hotel does not keep and/or will not provide you with provide quarters. We didn't have an affiliated bank in the area to obtain quarters, so this proved very difficult. Checked with several businesses and grocery stores. Nobody gives quarters anymore, so if you need to do laundry - better find a way to carry bulk quarters with you or just go to another laundry facility. #3 Shuttle: Although a shuttle van is present on site, it is not for use apparently. Opryland is about a mile away and they don't provide shuttle service there. "Most people just walk" was the answer we received. Maybe so - but not during winter with snow/ice on the ground; also not viable option for those who maybe can't walk a mile each way. #4 Front Desk Staff: Deonte is AMAZING! Very friendly, helpful and nice. He is the ONLY one who was helpful and professional. The rest of the hotel front desk staff are united and bound to their serious attitude problem that in NO way resembles service or hospitality and it's actually quite shameful that this gaggle of women represent the Marriott brand. They are loud, rude, and extremely unprofessional in their language. They are often doing nothing or simply staring at their phones and are especially bothered to address a guest question. ReeAnn in particular really just has no business in a customer facing role of any sort. My advice is - don't need or ask for ANYTHING! You will be met with eye rolling, sighing, "trash talk" and the answer will be no anyway as they make you feel silly for even asking, so just save yourself the aggravation and don't ask. After check-in, you're on your own. #5 Fraudulent Charges: This hotel allows pets. Great! But we don't have a pet, and they charged us $150 pet fee. When confronted, they really didn't have an answer for this and acted baffled as to how this happened. After inspecting our "bug infested" room to ensure we did not have a pet, it took 10 days to get this charge removed. Check your card often when staying here - they look for ways to scam your money and are defensive and unhelpful about fixing their own errors when you call it out. See #4 - united attitude problem. #6 The indoor pool is advertised as climate controlled - it's not. It's as cold as ice. Never saw a single person using it during our stay. I heard several other guests ask about this and they were met with shoulder shrugs and irritation that they were bothered by the inquiry. They just don't care at all! See #4 - united attitude problem. Breakfast is awesome! The gym is nice. Housekeeping and Maintenance staff are awesome! They really work hard and were very nice. Special thanks to Antonio and Carmen! Those 2 work very hard! There was a constant stench of marijuana throughout the hotel. Clearly other guests are smoking in their rooms. Not sure how that works with the no smoking policy - but you can smell it most of the time. Attached photos of exterior post winter storm. No salt. No clean up crew. Just one poor maintenance man trying his best. Not Ok. We were placed there for business so we didn't have choice in the stay. Will not stay again and I definitely don't recommend. Rooms: Although nice size and layout, there were bugs, electrical and plumbing problems that just made our stay miserable. Safety: Based on the lack of effort to clear walkways or place any care on guests' inability to get in or out of a door, it was clear that safety was not anyone's priority. Walkability: The lobby entrance is the ONLY location where there is a ramp. All other entrances have steps. This is important to note for 2 reasons. #1 - wheel chair access or any other difficulty with steps are a challenge. #2 - Luggage and luggage carts. Not only did we struggle with this - I watched many other people struggle to load/unload their vehicles and get their luggage carts up and down steps. The entrance to the lobby is lined with handicap spaces, but for everyone else - special arrangements had to be made in order to get things in and out of the hotel. Enormous and unnecessary struggle. During our stay there was a winter storm which dropped snow and ice. I observed 1 person attempting to shovel some sidewalks, but it was a monumental job for 1 person. A crew would have been needed. For several days it was almost impossible to get in or out a door and access vehicles due to the snow/ice. I don't know why salt wasn't used to keep sidewalks and walkways clear and safe. Very dangerous and discussed heavily among other guests who struggled to get to and from their vehicles without falling. Separately, I'm sure many people CAN walk the mile down to Opryland (as we were instructed to do), but it was odd that a shuttle is present on site and shuttle service is not provided. With such a large tourist attraction nearby which, I imagine is the main reason people stay there.
