Yesterday I went to first horizon and was met with the sweetest teller (Ms. Summers). She was professional, kind, patient, and had such a good spirit! Highly recommend this branch!

Rarely do I feel motivated enough to leave a bad review but this is a case where I will. I do not have an account with this bank or branch (I bank with the far superior Pinnacle thankfully) but I am in a line of work where if I take a check I need to instantly determine if it is good. This requires me taking the check to their personal bank to get it cashed, knowing in advance OF COURSE that there will be a fee for not having an account there (in this case First Tennessee Metro Center), fair enough. First of all, the lady at the counter (dark hair and glasses, stage left, I know her name but won't state it as it's possible she was having a bad day) acted like I had cooties whenever I told her I didn't have an account there when she looked at the check and said "you know I have to charge you a fee"! I replied "yes I understand, that's fine". She goes to the computer and looked the check up and says "it's 20 dollars to cash it". Once again, I acknowledge it's fine (even though 20 sounded a little high, but it was a check over 1000 dollars, and I need to know it is good). After a few more minutes she comes back and counts out the money and explains that the fee was only 15 or 16 dollars and counts out the money. I then ask her for a receipt for the fee and she tells me no! I need this for business tax purposes, but she acts particularly annoyed that I was bothering her with it. She says once she's "out of the computer system" she can't print one. I asked if she could hand write me a receipt. Again she says no! I have been in my line of work for over 15 years and I have NEVER, EVER, not one single time, had someone refuse to write me a receipt at a bank for such fees. If you go in any business and that business charges you any money BY LAW they have to present you with a receipt if you request one. I have considered opening an account with this bank because of the convenient proximity to my office (I drive by it every day), but after this TERRIBLE experience I would NEVER consider doing so! Maybe next time instead of offering up a dose of attitude, she will simply offer up the requested receipt. She will not get another opportunity from me however, nor will I ever accept any checks from First Tennessee going forward. They blew it! It's not like there's a shortage of options when it comes to banks, maybe they should try a little harder to focus on being nicer to "potential" customers.
