There should be an option for ZERO stars for Freeman. My mother had an appointment with him today, and it was a terrible experience. I had to get up and walk out of the room with her in order to keep my mouth closed, because I knew she needed treatment for an ongoing eye infection. However, he spoke in circles and never truly gave a diagnosis, so shes still in the dark about whats going on. He was extremely rude and degrading to my mother and quite honestly acted as if he didnt want to be there. I only wish I had read the other reviews before going in because they are 100% accurate. My advice is to find someone else because this man is horrible and doesnt deserve to be called a doctor.

Whatever you do, do not see Dr. Freeman at Meca. His manner towards patients is incredibly rude and uncaring. I've visited there for an appointment about an infection problem on both my eyes. I'm sitting there scared of out my mind because this was the first time I had ever experienced this with my eyes and it was lasting so long that I was worried out of my wits. The nurses were great, but when Dr. Freeman comes in, he barely listens to what I have to say and kept interrupting me when I tried to explain what was wrong. He kept asking questions that he would have known the answer to if he had simply listened to me. I can't count how many times I had to repeat myself. What's more is that he completely dismisses my worries as if they weren't valid and even congratulates on my problem for being such (and I quote) a "textbook example that you only see in med school" with a loud and abrasive laugh. He said that it was "cool to see" all right in front of me. Do I have to really spell out that it isn't "cool" to be one with the eye infection? I am not your little science experiment for you to ogle at. If my terrible experience ended there, I would have gotten over of it, but that isn't all. He didn't even properly explain what exactly was going on with my eyes and seemed to be in a hurry to leave. When he asked if I had any questions (which I did), he simply said to ask them to the nurse who was going to help me check out. Excuse me? For a minute, I thought i was talking to the receptionist and not a DOCTOR. The kind nurse who helped me with my questions and what prescription eye drops to get was 10x more of a doctor than he could ever be. Needless to say, I felt completely degraded and felt as if I was simply an exhibit and not a patient. He told me to come back for a follow-up and to schedule an appointment at the front desk. And once I got to that front desk, I immediately declined to schedule a follow-up. I am never going back to Meca or see Dr. Freeman ever again.

John Freeman is the most abrasive and uncaring doctor ever. I was not his patient, but my 92-year-old grandmother was. She has dementia and had anxiety about cataract surgery. She is in a wheelchair and my mother brought her in for a consultation. My mother couldnt lift her into the exam chair and the doctor refused to offer any assistance, and seemed irritated that she was not physically able to do it. He said, Thats not our job. People always come in here thinking were just going to help, but you need to make another appointment and come back with someone else to help you. My mother takes my grandmother to doctor appointments all the time, she is not catatonic, she just sometimes needs another stable hand. Apparently that was too much to ask. So my mom went back with a man to assist my grandmother. Somehow the doctor still found a way to be rude and condescending. He had given my mom a card for some eye drops, which the Jewish home would not prescribe because the doctor did not sign it or write an actual prescription. So this time, they asked him to simply sign something to fill the script. The doctor got all flustered and said, I dont have time for this, Im not gonna go there and show them how to do their jobs. All my mother was asking was for him to sign the prescription. They refused fill a script without a signature from a doctor. Even the nurses there seemed to understand and were trying to be accommodating, but the doctor was acting so inconvenienced and fed up with the most minor request to simply do his job by signing a script. You would have thought he was asked to go fetch a rock from the surface of the moon. I believe this man cant stand to see patients. He made it clear his only desire to stay in surgery and crank people out like a robot. He is burnt out and cant be bothered to expend one more iota of decency. Maybe someone needs to give him a hug, or maybe he just needs to consider the fact that sooner than later, he will be an elderly person with health issues and unable to advocate for himself. I hope the people caring for him treat him like a human being, unlike the way he treats patients and their families. If your job has made you hate people, you can get away with phoning it in if you work at the DMV, but if youre a surgeon doing cataract surgery, probably predominantly on elderly, disabled patients, then its time to retire or do something else.
