My water heater went out Saturday March 30th, and I called around to see who was available as this was an emergency. Luckily I found the leak before it seeped into my hallway. I called Hometown and they promptly sent someone out within a couple hours. I had to get a new 50 gal water heater and was quoted 2,255 dollars for a new water heater and installation. Let me say it again 2,255 dollars!! I researched the same water heater online (State Proline 50 gal) it was 676 dollars before tax. Understandably I had to pay a 249 dollar emergency service fee. So all together that would roughly be 1k ish with tax. So that means I had to pay another 1250 in installment fees!! It was a super easy install not hard to get to at all. I also had to purchase a pan from my local Ace for another 22 dollars because my installer didnt have one, I honestly thought he could of got one from the shop seeing I live near the Gray fossil site and its very close. Look I dont want to completely bash a company, Kyle my installer was very polite and did a very good job with the install. Kyle also explained everything to me for maintenance, warranty ect. Bottom line, I understand a company needs to make a profit, but I felt like I was taken advantage of due to the situation, and do not appreciate it at all. Edit to Hometown Plumbing response... I understand you are a professional plumbing company and I acknowledge you did a good job. However doing good work should not include price gouging over 1000 dollars worth, its a question of ethics at that point no matter how much money the customer does or does not have to spend. This was an emergency situation, not like I had any other choice at that point, in simplistic terms Hometown was like a shark smelling blood in the water.
