I needed 2 yards of river rock. In effort to not have to go rent a trailer, I asked if they wouldn’t mind delivering 3 minutes away where my job was. The man at the desk couldn’t give me an answer and said he’d have to talk to his boss. After 15-20 minutes of discussion, he came out and said they wouldn’t help me. So I went and rented a trailer for 30 minutes to deliver the rock myself. It was hardly 2 yards like I paid for and it was a lot of silt and dirt. The stone was very dirty also of course. I was very embarrassed to be delivering quality like that to my customer. Go visit Needham’s for stone. Much more likely to have a better experience all around.

I have been doing business with Soil Products for over 15 years now and have always been able to rely on them as a convenient place for materials. I have gotten to know the staff pretty well and understand what to expect when I go there. In the recent years however there has been a noticeable decline in organization and reliability. I really hope to see things get back on track there. At the rate they are going I will not be able to count on them as a reliable source for materials. I am not one to leave poor reviews but the service this week has left me in a difficult spot. We had a large mulch job 3 days ago and came up about 1 yard shy of completion. When we went back for more mulch at noon the owner of soil products had left and closed the store. The next day they never opened back up and same situation the following day. Crossing my fingers today. Yes we can get mulch anywhere but it will not match the rest of what we have already put down so now we cannot uniformly finish the job. My customer is getting frustrated and this is reflecting badly on my business. If I cannot count on Soil Products to be open on a reliable schedule I have no other choice but to discontinue doing business with them.
