        Walk the trail to Laurel Falls. Just so gorgeous. Worth the hike.

        The road side parking for Pond Mountain Wilderness is on rt 321/67 just in front of the swimming area parking for Watauga Lake, TN . You can hike northbound on the AT ( Appalachian trail) which goes around Watauga Lake toward the dam or you can cross the highway , go a short walk on a gravel rd and then turn left and follow the white blazes. Its several miles of uphill hiking on the southbound trail but its gradual and not a rocky trail. These photos are from the southbound hike.

        There was snow on the ground and icicles in the trees. Wonderful hike up. Beautiful place.
