I filed for bankruptcy last year after the company I hired to settle my credit card debt did nothing but take my money. Mr. Payne was assigned as the trustee of my case. After collecting almost 7K of the almost 10K from the aforementioned company, Mr. Payne decided to accuse me of doing something I did not do ( I can prove it) in order to get more money out of me. It's no secret that the more money he collects, the more money he gets. My bankruptcy attorney refused to defend me unless I paid him more money. I did not have anymore money, hence, the reason for bankruptcy. I filed a complaint with the BAR association against Mr. Payne and their response was this is a civil case. In other words, I need to hire another attorney. My husband and I are retired and only collect S.S. Mr. Payne wanted over half of our yearly income in addition to what he already collected or he was going to force the sale of our home. We had to borrow the money from a family member. Now I am in worse financial condition than I was before . All totaled, I have paid out more than I owed in the first place and now I have a bankruptcy against me. It says a lot about a man's character when he is willing to come up with a false "theory" in order to get more money for himself. He was willing to force the sale of our home (making us homeless) for under 25K in credit card debt. Like DS said "he is a crook". If he sees an opportunity to make some extra money, he'll take it.

This lawyer "Douglas L. Payne" is a total crook!! He screwed my wife and daughter over a few years ago on my daughters disability even though he should've been only collecting a payment of 25% off of my wifes "disability claim ONLY" and shouldn't have received nothing payment wise on our daughters disibility since he didn't represent our daughter whatsoever when our daughter received her disability... He should be disbarred from being able to practice law of any kind much less practicing law as a disability lawyer!

Mr. Payne was friendly & straight forward about his position. Staff was very friendly.
