I have been a patient with Dr. Stone for 5 years. I travel 2 hours to his office for appointments. He is a great doctor, my review is not of Dr. Stone himself but of his office. I made an appointment for a vision issue and waited to been seen for almost a month. The day before the appointment the office called to verify my appointment for the next day. While on the phone I was informed I would be required to pay my portion of my deductible for the office visit, which is a relatively large amount. I was then informed that they had changed their billing procedures as of January 2018 and would no longer bill for the deductible. Now I understand this and most physicians do require this, however I have always been billed for my deductible portion at this office and have not been required to present payment the day of. Nor was I told this was going to be the case when I scheduled my appointment. I would have most certainly been prepared had I been informed. Now....with this being said my current vision issue is causing damage to my vision the longer it goes untreated. I was told when I scheduled "I really needed to be seen sooner then my appointment date and to call back for cancellations" Which i did. No other appointments became available and so I waited for my given appointment date. The very nice lady named Melissa who called to verify my appointment said she would speak with her office manager and call me back. Here is where the one star comes in. This lady was unconcerned for my vision issue and explained to me that even though I have never had a payment issue on my account this was their new procedure and to "keep their doors open" would not longer bill for deductibles. Despite the fact I was informed only the day before the appointment. I even explained the fact my husband had to request the time off to bring me as i most likely would be unable to drive back. The money was her only concern. I then ask for my release of medical records in which she had no issue sending me. Quite quickly actually.....she had no problem losing me as a patient.
