My mother needed wound care at home. Extendicare sent an unprepared nurse who usually works in the office, not in the field. She seemed inept at handling any level of wound care. She did not even have the proper supplies to do the job she was sent to do. She used my personal supplies and ones that I brought home from the hospital. To mask her incompetence, she called 911 for a non-emergency just to request an ambulance. My mom was home for a grand total of two days after an 11-week hospital stay. She has been back in the hospital for four days awaiting transfer to a skilled nursing facility all because Extendicare sent an ill-equipped nurse to handle her wounds. Only use this company if your loved one requires nothing more than a simple band-aid change.

was not impressed with the quality of care received from this agency. Not only that, they lie to your physician, come when it is convenient for them, often without notification at all. I've had them call from my drive way and tell me they were here to see me. No prior notice. The nurses didnt seem to be very knowledgeable or plentiful. One let it slip that they only had 2 RN's at that time that were seeing patients and were over extended. They then lied to my doctor and told her I was non-compliant and refusing to be seen by them. Another lie was the RN called my doctor and told her I was not taking my medication. The nurse was expected at noon. She showed up at 9:40 unexpected, waking me. I had not been awake to take that mornings dose of medication. Thankfully my doctor knows me to be not only compliant, but a stickler when it comes to my meds. Not some place I can recommend. Just my humble opinion and experience for whatever it is worth.

Agency dropped my mom as a client when she was admitted to the hospital. Initially, told the social worker from the hospital my moms services would resume upon release, but retracted their answer without notifying the family. My family had less than 24 hours to find a service that would accept her as patient upon discharge. The reason for dropping her was very questionable..will not disclose my moms illness, but I feel this agency doesnt want to be held accountable for their lack of professionalism and servicing the client. Agency didnt order my moms medical supplies in a timely manner & nurse became agitated when I questioned her about it. She made me feel like she was doing me a favor by dropping off temporary supplies instead of doing your job. No one called the family to say why they reached their decision. Corporate office was notified and an apology was issued. I told her my family doesnt want to ever be with an agency who doesnt want them. Agency is too unprofessional & unpleasant to be apart of.., Beware if your love one has to be admitted to the hospital & services will be canceled without a plausible reason.
