My friend had his bank account frozen out the blue by this bank. It was all the money he had. The money this bank froze included his mortgage payment, medicine money, transportation payments and food expenses.
Per the trustmark representative because they are based in Mississippi the state of ms passed a law a few years ago that requires all banks and credit unions based in Mississippi to turn over the records of all of their account holders to collect from people who owe taxes.
YES. if you bank with trustmark, it doesnt matter if you live outside of MS. MS can still push your social security through some system to see if you bank with any one of their financial institutions even those based out of state and they can SEIZE your money.
Not cool. They took all this man had and left him penniless. If this bank had a spine they would object to this practice. This person told me they cant eat or sleep now. They may commit suicide. They haven't lived in Mississippi for years and their account was opened out of state as well. They had no knowledge of any debt.
As this law only applies to banks based in MS (it doesnt matter if they operate outside of MS they are still affected by this legislation) Its probably wise to avoid any MS financial institutions.
