image While I always try to understand that things happen that cannot be avoided, notification of issues prior to arrival can go a long way. With communication as easy as it is now, it is completely unacceptable. I will detail the issues below for those that want an honest opinion. But in short: 1) the breakfast was good, 2) the amenities were lacking, 3) the location was sketchy, 4) the room was okay and clean, 5) it was easily accessible to the interstate and local attractions.
More details:
We drove over 6 hours to visit the area with our 8 year old's. We picked this location due to the proximity to Chattanooga and the interstate. But mostly picked this one in particular due to the indoor pool. When we arrived, there was a notice on the desk stating the pool heater was not working. Upon checking in I asked what the issue was. They informed me at that time that they had a power surge that made it stop working. I asked what the estimate was for repair. This was Thursday. They told me the part had been ordered and it should be there Friday (next day). They asked if we still wanted the room. Being spring break and not knowing the area and if I would be able to find other accommodations, we decided to go ahead since we were there. But with communication as easy as it is now, a simple text or email to notify us of one of their main amenities being down would have been preferred so that I could have looked into alternative accommodations prior to showing up and being told. They could have also just simply updated it on their website.
That being said, I was told by the very nice and friendly attendant that the kids didn't seem to mind the temperature of the water and were still playing in it. Well we go out and participate in one of the local activities we had planned and come back. My kids were beyond excited to get into the pool. One jumped right in and the other hovered and tried his best to get into the pool. But it was frigged. The one that just jumped right in, when we got back to the room I noticed that around his mouth and lips were blue due to the cold. (he is very pale skinned and shows temperature changes easily.)
We asked again about the pool repair status Friday. Again we were told that they didn't have any additional information. When we checked out Saturday, the pool heater was still not working.
The breakfast was very nice. But they ended it at 9:00am. It would have been nice to have it until 10:00am. But that is just a personal suggestion. Not a complaint. Biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, pastries, waffles, and 3 types of cereal (raisin bran, fruit loops, and rice Krispie's), were provided. Orange juice, apple juice and coffee were provided. Lemon infused water was available all the time.
I did leave a review with the company upon receipt of their automatic follow up after our stay. I did inform them of the issues. I did receive an email stating "they apologized they did not meet my expectations." Again, having a chain hotel and obviously an automated system to get reviews, it should have been easy to inform guest prior to their stay of the issues. It was spring break and we obviously had kids. Kids in general like to swim. And when on spring break it is nice to have some options at the hotel included so you are not constantly gone.
The guy walking around and riding up and down the elevator without any noticeable purpose was a little strange. Given the location and the parking lot area, and lack of lighting around the hotel, I would not have felt safe at all had my husband not been with me. Just a personal opinion. But I do note now in looking closer at the reviews that multiple others have mentioned safety as a concern.
All in all, we do not have any particular reason to go to this specific hotel again. But I wouldn't pick them again even if we did.

Dear Kelli Solly, thank you for bring all your concerns to out attention. But we understand your purpose of the whole trip as well. As you indicated that communication is the key. So what we did is we took of our indoor pool amenities from of hotel websites at the time of pool being down and as you mentioned we do let the guest know upfront as you well acknowledged of the situation but we hope that some issues are out of our control and yes we were getting that part the same day you were mentioned but the pool company didn't receive it and as being into the weekend so shipping would haven't delivered it to the pool company. But nevertheless we were also frustrated as we cannot have our pool up and running even we hate it when our amenities are down for the time being. We are glad to let you know we finally got it fixed and a new heater was installed and our indoor heated pool is up and running we did update our amenities again on the website so people can check and book it. We hope that you do understand some situation even if we are our best are not in our control as this situation was not at a hotel level and was with a service company we have patiently wait but we do apologize again. As far as safety is concerned we have surveillance cameras all over the property and the parking is fenced and we have someone at the desk 24/7 so our guest can be at peace. Thank you for staying with us and hope you give us one more chance as we were working on the amenities to get it fixed.Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay.
