Southern Belle Riverboat

The pictures of the cruise boat are very misleading. The big boat is a stationary boat that does not cruise but is used as a bar and gift shop. The little one is a replica of the bigger cruise boat and this is the one most people get to ride to tour the river. When we got there, we were told the replica boat would not be going out and we would get to ride a VERY basic pontoon boat. The captain was nice but we did not receive and historical narration on interesting facts about the area. Very boring ride. We did see some bald eagles. Extremely disappointing. You had better make sure what vessel they will guarantee you to ride on because you will not get your money back. We tried. We were told to arrive early at 5 pm for a 6 pm departure. The captain arrived at 6:02. The only reason I can see to get there early is that they want you to spend your money in their gift shop as you try to kill one hour. Big disappointment and would not recommend this tour to anyone. Obviously, those who wrote such glowing reports did not get switched to ride on a pontoon boat.

The boat needs a renovation inside. The bathrooms were disgusting. The food was lacking. Get your food in the restaurant above the gift shop before you get on the boat. The gift shop was nice. The lady working in the gift shop was nice. The ride wasn't worth the money we spent.

Not a place I would recommend for food. The novelty of a riverboat is cool. Servers were great give them a 5. The food a 1. Ordered a rare burger came out well done. They remade it but was so rare it was raw. Sweet potato fries were good. It's more of a place to hang out with friends more a bar atmosphere.

One star for the guy playing guitar. He was pretty good. The other star for the memories of my family laughing at me for being embarrassed I paid 260.00 for this. The overall vibe can be described as past it. Disappointed this was not a paddle/steam boat. It wasnt billed as such but that was my expectation and reason for booking. Once aboard you are transported back in time, but only to about 20 minutes ago as, immediately upon boarding, you know you made a mistake. I expected a romantic sunset cruise in a charming environment with a whisper of old timey elegance. What I got instead was 30 minutes up river and 30 back again with a non-setting sun shining, hard cheese, ball field fare, and flat soft drinks enveloped in a cocoon of what can only be described as garage sale chic. Fellas this is not the nice evening out you think youre purchasing for your family. Its nothing short of an amusement ride at one of those local here today gone tomorrow traveling fairs. The worst value for money experience Ive ever had. No sites to see. No historical context of any kind. Nothing but riverbank on one side and country club on the other. That is if you can see either through the uncleaned windows. Im not salty just disappointed.
