Horrible they will deny claims that are valid and make you fight them for payment. Dont use Avera health plans if you have a choice!!

Worst insurance in history. Nothing is covered, premiums continue to skyrocket, you couldnt possibly meet your deductible because its all non-covered charges. On top of that they force you to get care at Avera facilities. This entire operation is a bunch of extortionists. They also work with Avera health to keep people from getting healthy by denying treatment that is prescribed by their own doctors. No better way to stay profitable than deny treatment so that their customers never get healthy and need to keep going back for more billable hours. It should be illegal for medical providers to be in the insurance business.

I've just spent 42:44 on hold trying to reach someone who could help me log into their website (I'm a web designer so it's not that I don' t know about things like this). If you want friendly fast service, maybe you should look elsewhere.

The worst health care and insurance I've ever experienced. From being misdiagnosed to billing. I have been given the run around on my sleep apnea for 7 months. I haven't slept since may.

I am new to Avera Health Plans. My experience so far hasn't been great. My plan became active March 1st, so I called the health plan on February 28th to make basic inquiries. I was on hold for 30 minutes. The gentleman was very polite and just expressed how busy they had been. He couldn't provide any member ID information since it wasn't active till the next day. He warned me that it would be 4 to 5 weeks before the cards would be printed and shipped. Again, he apologized and just expressed how busy they were. My only recourse was to call back after March 1st. I called back March 7th, hoping my cards/info might have been processed. This was a 20 minute hold for assistance. The cards weren't printed, there was no way to email the cards, and I couldn't use the portal yet either. A polite but brisk lady provided my member ID numbers but said the cards had not been printed and would likely be, You guessed it, 4 to 5 weeks. With my experience already, I'm concerned about the hassle it might be to actually use it. Thankfully, I'm assured I'll have the cards in, you guessed it, 4 to 5 weeks.
