We utilized AAA travel agency through the Pierre office when traveling to the Dominican. We were overcharged, our names were spelt incorrectly on the itinerary, and had minimal communication with the travel agent. After numerous failed attempts to reach her from multiple people in our party we were able to get reimbursed our over charge and our names were changed on the itinerary. However, the day of our flight one member in our party had not been reissued a plane ticket. On the last day of our trip our flight was cancelled, and our travel agent offered no support or assistance. I will never utilize this travel agency again.

Our experience was terrible with AAA in Pierre. Overcharged, they wouldn't return calls, we were told things that didn't happen. Our names were spelled wrong on the itinerary, our flight was cancelled coming home and we received no help from our agent. There was 20 people in our group and we are very dissatisfied.

--Based on a January 2023 Punta Cana Trip booking experience that my wife, myself, and 16 others were involved in-- The group of 18 of us had a trip planned through AAA of Pierre, AAA then utilized a 3rd party company to handle the resort bookings--which was confusing in and of it self, but I digress....... We had all kinds of issues: 1.) People were over charged and had issues with refunding, which I believe was a product of AAA not doing the bookings themselves and having that extra layer of the 3rd Party agency doing the bookings. It caused issues and then there was zero accountability, essentially AAA blamed it on Pleasant Holidays (what I believe to be the name of the 3rd party agency) and vice versa. 2.) We had individuals in our group that had their names misspelled on tickets and reservations, which caused issues with air fare as well as check-in at the Resort. 3.) The handling of Airfare bookings was also weird, they had randomly 5 people on the same confirmation numbers, which caused all sorts of issues at the air port as well. In my opinion it should have been either one booking with a single confirmation for the entire group of 18 or individualized bookings for families.... Not the randomized groups of five that AAA did 4.) Overall communication was terrible. I understand issues come up and things happen that can't be blamed on any one specific person, but not communicating and working through those problems is a far more significant failure. The overall lack of communication and accountability of AAA for their own failures, was extraordinary. They clearly messed up, were difficult to reach about anything, and then acted like it was no fault of their own. Honestly in this day and age you can book things yourself online and through individualized booking companies. The ONLY REASON to use a travel agency like AAA is for convenience and the potential of better pricing for group rates and return customers. Based on our experience, I can confidently say we would have had an easier and less stressful trip/overall experience if we had just done the booking ourselves--completely independent of AAA of Pierre. I would recommend anyone else to to the same. If you truly prefer to use a travel agency, steer clear of AAA of Pierre, use someone else, and thank me later.
