Thriving Minds Success with Dyslexia

Barb,with Thriving Minds, is amazing and we are so thankful for the work she is doing! Our 8 year old daughter did a week long class with her. She learned so much in one week and her confidence in reading has grown. We learned how 3D thinkers need to be taught to help them comprehend things and our daughter was given so many great tools to help her learn. I would highly recommend the services that Barb offers and we are so lucky she is right here in the Brookings community.

Barb has been an amazing asset to my son and his reading accomplishments. He has struggled for a very long time and the progress he has made is astounding. He has always been timid with reading and his confidence skyrocketed after just a week. He is so proud of himself and his own achievements. Every time he comes home, he is giving me new ideas and tips to help him accomplish his goals. So happy and proud

Our son Austin was struggling in Kindergarten with concentrating and keeping up with his peers. As a parent you want your children to succeed. We knew Austin was a smart child, but he struggled to write and recognize letters and numbers. We were referred to Thriving Minds by his teacher and he completed a two-week young learner course for Dyslexia. Within two weeks he is thriving. He can recognize and write the alphabet. He has started sounding out words and using the tools he has learned both at home and in his extracurricular activities. Barb has done an amazing job with this program and her students are her success story.

Barb Rounds has been the secret sauce in helping our daughter unlock the power of her brain and turning her dyslexia into a strength & a positive point of distinction. Working with Barb has resulted in many benefits, the top 3 being: 1) increased reading competency and interest (our daughter reads all the time now on her own!) 2) increased confidence when tackling reading, or any subject at school for that matter 3) helping us - the parents - learn how to best approach and assist our child for success If your child is struggling with reading (we noticed significant difficulty around grades 3-4; however, it can be assessed as early as kindergarten), I strongly suggest scheduling an initial meeting with Barb to talk through your concerns and meet your child. Barb is highly trained and skilled with not only dyslexia, but working with and understanding the developmental needs of your child. I wish we would have found Barb sooner, but I'm thankful we are working with her now.

Barb with Thriving Minds has been a tremendous help to our family. Our son was diagnosed with dyslexia at the end of 2nd grade. We had no idea where to start or what to do. Barb helped us navigate what learning how to help our son and also how to work with the school to make sure we were advocating for him. She always goes above and beyond for our family.
