        Small, quiet, powerful. This place pulsates with history and wildlife. On an impromptu day trip to Saint Helena Island, we stopped at a few points that we hadn't visited during our last visit (twenty years ago). Fort Fremont was one of them. We spent most of our short visit marveling at the engineering. It doesn't take long to walk around the structure. The sidewalks are wide and well maintained. The walkways lead to a well-appointed picnic area overlooking the water. Fort Fremont is gorgeous.

        What an amazing place to see real life history in person. Really enjoyed exploring the grounds and the beach adjacent to the site was a relaxing walk to end the trip.
