Budget Car Rental

My family landed in Charleston, SC at 1:15pm on February 19, 2023, and let's just say attempting to rent a vehicle through Budget was horrendous. To save time, my husband started the rental process at 1:30pm, while I patiently waited for our luggage at the carousel. Coincidently, the luggage arrived at the same time my husband and son got done doing the paperwork to rent a car, or so we thought. This was our first time to Charleston, so we didn't know that the walk from where you initially rent a car, to where you pick it up would be about a 5 min walk. Once we reached the car pickup location, we were greeted by a line of what appeared to be angry customers. When we inquired as to what the hold up was, the customer service representative, instructed everyone with a paper to wait off to the side. As we waited with other customers, we all joked about the duplicated efforts of checking in at one location, and then walking a distance to another location just to wait some more. After an hour of waiting, our rental car was not ready, and neither was the other customers. We all laughed and clapped as one by one cars came out. In total, we started the rental car process at 1:30pm, and did not physically enter the car until 2:41pm. To say that the rental car was over $700 for four days, and we experienced this service is disgusting. Our flight from Newark, NJ was only 1h 37min, it's hard to imagine that we spent almost and equal amount of time standing and waiting for a car. I'm hoping the rest of our stay in Charleston makes up for this not so welcoming introduction. Budget, please do better!

today we waited in the garage for 90 minutes for our car. The workers were completely incapable and uninterested. they were communicating nothing to the 20 or so people waiting along with us. If anyone asked a question it was responded to with a blank stare and a nasty comment. I was told FastBreak at CHS was NOT fast and its true. Never again for us at CHS. All the workers in the garage today should be fired - I'm sure they wouldn't care.

Terrible Experience!! I reserved a car to be picked up at 07:00 a.m. I arrived at 07:15 a.m., waited in line for 35 minutes with 10 folks ahead of me and only one (1) associate on duty. Upon finally being serviced, I waited at the parking garage for over 20 minutes for the rental car to show up. There was nobody at the booth inside the garage so I just stood there waiting for somebody to show up not knowing if I was to be serviced or not. Once the car finally arrived, the windows (front and back) were filthy. All told, it took me over 75 minutes to receive the rental car. I wound up being late to my speaking engagement and incurred crazy stress over the entire affair. A total failure!!

Waited for 2 hours at the airport for our car to arrive. Disgraceful. Corporate BS at its finest. Do better!

Horrible. DON'T BOOK WITH BUDGET! They took our reservation but didn't honor it! We arrived and were told that they have no car for us. What's that point of making a reservation???? They did give us a "loaner" van that we were supposed to return the next morning. So we had to go back to the airport from our hotel in the morning. The next morning they still had no car for us. We waited 3 more hours until they finally found one for us. We waisted half a day of our trip on this! Unacceptable. Save yourself a hassle. DON'T BOOK WITH BUDGET AT THE AIRPORT IN CHARLESTON. So upsetting.
