  • THE ADVENTURE BEGINS !

    I had an appointment scheduled with Clayton Homes. On my way there, I realized I would be late due to unforseen traffic. I gave them a call to let them know of my delay and they said that was fine. 15 minutes later, I arrived. Upon arriving, Alan was outside tending to another customer, but said someone would be with me shortly. I went inside and waited a few minutes before another employee appeared from a room and asked about my purpose there. I told them I was there for an appointment. They told me to take a look at a couple homes as I waited for Alan to finish with the other customers. I did that and returned to find he was still working with the other customers. Finally, he came to a stopping point and we made our introductions. It dawned on Alan that I was waiting for our appointment to begin and he apologized for that. I apologized for being late. That was settled. It is beyond this point when I grew confused. 1. I truly expected to sit down and have a thorough discussion about all the financial options, floor plans, pricing, and so forth. Instead, we stood out in the lobby during the few minutes I was even able to speak with him. 2. At some point during the conversation, the other customers returned and Alan immediately focused all his attention back to them. I understand I was late, but his attitude became very dismissive. 3. I stood around and waited some more until he came to another pause with the other customers and asked if I had anymore questions. I asked a couple others but it seemed like he rushed to answer them. I would have liked more time to ask questions and learn more, but I felt rushed to get out. In the end, he said he'd email me with a couple of specific builders and their floor plans. 4. As I was leaving, he immediately shifted his attention back to the other customers - which is to be expected - but even offered them refreshments, which he did not offer to me. 5. One week later and no email...I emailed Alan a reminder in case he had forgotten. He apologized and said he would send the email with information that day. Almost another week later and I still have yet to receive any emails. No financing options, no builders and floor plans, no follow up on the appointment - nothing. I was polite during my time there. I understand I was late to the appointment and I apologized for that, but I did not feel like a priority as someone who set aside designated time to have a formal meeting with an employee at Clayton Homes. It was incredibly informal and inhospitable. I felt rushed to get out. I never received all the answers to my questions. I never received an email with more information. I do not know what I did to deserve this, but I pray no one else has to experience this and that they have better fortune than me. I do not want to discourage others from giving Clayton Homes a chance, but be on guard in case this happens. This review is simply a reflection of my experience with them. Good luck.

    I went in and fell in love with all their homes but chose the "Pride". It was perfect for my family size. I went and saw Darleen who helped me with everything. She was very helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly!! I definitely recommend speaking with her at Clayton homes in lexington, sc!! Her manager Stan was very good too! I'm glad to have went through them because they were fast at helping me do what I needed to get my inspections done and pass the first time so I can move in!!

    Darlene Lambert was my sales agent and was excellent. She helped make the process easier and when my anxiety got the best of me she made sure to smooth it out. Clayton Homes made sure I was very satisfied with my home and all the extras!!

    Went in and viewed homes in Nov of 2020, found one we liked and had it custom designed to fit our needs. Started the buying process with Alan and gave him the deposit. He informed us that this locked in the price and it could not increase, if anything it would decrease. He told us it was about a 6 month backlog at that builder. In the spring of 2021 called to check still 6 months out. Called in July of 2021 took a week to hear back only to hear that we were looking at a 4th quarter completion. In October of 2021 it is 6 months out but Alan says he needs to get updated pricing. After another week 351 days since the day we originally sat down with Alan he calls and tells me the new price of the home only is now 90% higher than originally quoted and it will be 6 months before it is completed. So we got our deposit back and went somewhere else.
