Sent here at 13. Nurse told me the mascot was the cockroach. My bedroom flooded every day I was there. Everything looked like it was from the 70s. The nurses are extremely rude and callous. They act like they hate children with mental illness. Don't send your child here unless you want them to be further traumatized. Came back for outpatient at 19. The nurses literally have no idea what the hell they are talking about. Even the guy in charge was completely ignorant of actual mental disorders. I felt extremely invalidated and it only made my suicidal situation worse. This place is bad news for all ages.

I visited here a year ago for depression (I'm a teen). there were centipedes in the bedrooms and one of the males walked in there while I was changing clothes. the food is terrible and the nurses treat you like your literally delusional. your in your room half of the time and cant leave unless told to then when u do without depression u get in trouble. wouldnt recommend at all.

I was there about a week ago and it was a pretty bad experience. One time I was having a panic attack and one of the male staff touched my shoulder and arm and then took me to my room and closed the door with him inside, which only made my anxiety worse. I was later told by a staff member this should never have happened is this is against a lot of policies.

There were so many things wrong with this place that I don't even know where to start. Everyone, regardless of their mental state, were all put together which resulted in a lot of stress and anxiety for many patients. We were not properly supervised to the point where I was openly using a pen that a nurse had left out for 3 days before anyone noticed. The "Doctor" lied to me and lied on my chart and when he gave me his plan for me, it was what I had been doing up until being put in that place and when I told him that, he said "I don't know what else you want from me. " My mother called to get some information and they wouldn't tell her anything and were rather rude and seemed to not know anything about what was going on with my treatment. They gave me medication I didn't need, changed my antidepressants then let me leave while I was having extreme side effects, a nurse forgot what medicine I was supposed to be taking and almost skipped a dose, the food is inedible, they lost some of my belongings that were supposed to be in with the items I came in with, and the night staff paid absolutely no attention to anything or anyone. I ended up leaving Pickens in the same condition I was in when I was admitted, but I preferred to take my chances on my own rather than stay there.

I’ve been to this facility twice, once around 7 or 8 years ago and again 2 1/2 years ago I think. I’ve been reading the accusations and I do believe most of them but myself personally have had almost all positive experiences with them, I had a dissasociative episode and they recalled my specific food request from hours before and made it for me after kitchen hours and I found it very kind. I WAS told that I could either take my medicine or I would be forced to take it by a male nurse and they shot me up with 2 1000mg+ abilify shots, one in each shoulder along with an actual 30mg pill which I told them seemed like a large amount compared to what I was accustomed but they seemed not to care and had no response… I brought it up during once of the classes as well but its like I was speaking gibberish. all in all I had a decent experience with great food, rehab courses, gym visits, chapel once and was able to get clean for a while after I was released after 9 days the last time. Few last things, had to ask 5 or 6 times for nicotine gum, took over 3 hours for them to stop casually talking and check in my clothing/books and they look the other way I think when it comes to patients entering others rooms…
