I started renting a 10' parking space here in April of 2023. My rate of $34/month was very competitive. Service however was terrible. The coded access gate seemed to be open more than it was closed. We live very close to this facility and drive by here many times weekly. At one point, the gate was open 24/7 for well over a week! The code I was given initially wouldn't work; I was given an emergency code that worked occasionally. All in all, I was given four different codes none of which were reliable. In June of 2023 my rate went up 20% to $41/month. One Friday afternoon, we picked up our camper for a 3-night camping trip. When we returned on Monday, the code I had used on Friday wouldn't work. No one in the office even though the sign says open, and the door is locked. I called their "service" number and explained I'm at the gate with my camper behind me facing downhill with a busy road right behind me. I need to get inside so I can park my camper. Naturally, no response. It took me 20 minutes to inch backwards and then forward and then backwards, and then forward until I could get my vehicle and camper turned around. Frustrated? Absolutely. Sometime in late summer a new management team took over. I would have to say that when they did, I was able to come and go reliably with the new code they gave me. I received a notice in December of another rate increase from $41 to $62/month. This is an 80% increase from April of 23 to February of 24. This company has done absolutely nothing to justify this ridiculous increase. My lease agreement stated that as long as I had vacated the property before the last day of the month, my space would be declared vacant. I moved my camper to another facility on December 29th for $37/month. Meanwhile Midgard charged me for the month of January saying I didn't honor their 30-day advance notice policy. I read and reread my lease agreement which I was given to start my rental with them. NOWHERE does it say a 30-day notice is required. They charged me for a month I wasn't there, plus a $20 late fee (a 48% late fee). They threatened me with collection as well. My credit score is 833. I pay my bills. I don't like being taken advantage of or threatened by a company that doesn't cover their bases. I paid the month of January plus the late fee and moved on. I only wish Midgard was half as concerned about improving their poor service as they are about undocumented notices. I should have been given written copies of all their policies not just a few. My lease agreement with my new landlord is complete including a 30-day advanced move out notice. Before you consider storing at Midgard, consider their service or lack thereof, and shop around. There are many facilities available with better rates.
